I'm not sure which tabloid it was, but basically the cover-story headline said that a suicidal Bu$h is making late night calls to Condi. Laura at wits' end. I'll go back to Publix tomorrow and buy the tabloid.

As I head to the solitude of my fire lookout tower job for the summer, I get more and more into Philip Whalen and Gary Snyder (fire lookouts in the Cascades in the early 1950s, and noted beat poets .. Snyder being recognized by a Pulitzer in the early 1970s) and their embrace of Zen Buddhism. I'm not going to cling to Zen, but I'll take what I can at the time. Part of what I get from Zen and Christianity tells me Bu$h is in big trouble with himself. That, my friends, is the worst trouble you can imagine.
