Going after the little guy
Why is it that the majority of republicans focus their anger and outrage at the wrong people? My brother assaults me quite often with e-mails of outrage. Usually they go after mexicans but today I got to enjoy a rant against welfare recipients. I'll share with you what he sent me and my response. I usually don't respond, but I guess I was in a mood. Anyone have a guess why they can't see the bigger picture?

His Email:

Urine Test -- This guy has a point! This was written by a construction worker in Fort McMurray. Read on . .

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes, and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay check, I work on a rig site for a Fort McMurray construction project. At any time I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. HOWEVER, what I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Understand - I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass, drink beer and smoke dope.

Could you imagine how much money this country would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? If you agree, please pass this along, or simply delete if you don't. Hope you will pass it along though, because something has to change in this country

My response:

Okay... if you insist ......a few thoughts.....

I'll start with a fitting quote.... let's see if you all can guess the author? "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Well I guess I shouldn't mix religion with politics especially when I'm agnostic, so I'll stick to the facts. Check out the numbers for yourselves...http://www.pennbpc.org/pdf/PBPCUnderStdWelfare.pdf . I especially like the part where they talk about where the majority of welfare spending goes to...thats right... medical coverage for the elderly. I guess old Betty's pisser best not be on the fritz if she wants that hip replacement surgery next week. Holy shit... come on you guys. Just once I would like for some right wingers head to explode over where the majority of their taxpayers dollars are really going instead of going after those least among us. Take a look at this to start.............
http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=1258 and you might also want to take into account those not paying their fair share may have something to do with you paying so much... again ..take a look...http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/01/gao-most-big-us.html or
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/01/gao-most-big-us.html.

I will always take up for the man on the bottom (even if he is smoking a fatty) because I am not so delusional that I don't realize that I am way closer to the bottom than I ever will be the top....The fact is that most of us are and besides the dude with the fatty is a hell of lot more fun.

1. If I were at the bottom
I'd be smoking a fatty too. I hear they're cheaper than cigarettes now.

10. I am at the bottom (recently got there) and I can not afford a fatty or cigs since
Obama decided the best way to fund children's health care was to put a sin tax (regressive tax) on tobacco, levied at those at the bottom.

2. Some people feel others should suffer humiliation because they do

They're usually conservatives. Others feel that no one should have to suffer humiliation after they suffer it. They're usually liberals.

The same experience and polar opposite reactions say everything about the person.

7. Authority worshippers.
vs. Knowledge Seekers.

Authority Worshippers usually win, because they
prop up the psychopaths that
wrestle control...

They usually have to take a back
seat when they have DESTROYED
the REAL structure and they need
to be bailed out;
because
beyond might makes right, they
have NO ANSWERS.

3. Tell him that when they make the CEO's piss in a cup, they can
pee test welfare recipients.

It's class warfare.. and he's losing.

8. That is the part I don't get.....
How can they not understand that it is class warfare? They all behave as if they are on the same level as the greedy capitalist pigs. Is it delusion...envy?

4. "I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people..."
"...who don't have to pass a urine test."

Like people in Congress? School boards? City commissions?

9. Would that be a lot like socialism?
and wouldn't you have to shred the constitution(4th Amendment)?
You can not win against people with little or no brain.

11. "Why is it that the majority of republicans focus their anger and outrage at the wrong people?"
Because the right people are very, very wealthy, and like the outrage focused right where it is, thank you very much.

Big Money is the problem, and Big Money will work hard to pin the blame anywhere else.
