Obama is a fantastic Commander-in-Chief
An American cargo ship, manned by Americans has been rescued from "evil-doers", and a Navy Destroyer was on the scene ASAP to provide assistance and fire-power.

Can't wait to hear the praise and slobbering from Limpballs, Insanity, Dreck, Weiner and the rest of the wingnuts.

Think about it. Former President Bush couldn't keep Americans safe from a rag-tag group of 19 religious wing-nut fanatics on our own soil.

President Obama, on the other hand, was able to ensure the safety of 21 Americans on a cargo ship from over 5,000 miles away.

I'm sure all the right-wing talking heads will highlight this magnificent achievement of "keeping Americans safe", just like they did going all the way back to 12 September 2001 to tell us what a magnificent job Junior did.

:sarcasm:

1. Done quietly, no big announcments,
just going in and getting the damn job done.

President Obama is a leader and he's got very good people advising him. I am think of the Situation Room in "West Wing," and now it would appear that that fiction is now, perhaps, our reality.

I think our reality is even better than the TV show.

That empty suit who squatted illegally in the Oval Office for eight years wouldn't have done a thing about these pirates unless there was some way Halliburton could profit from whatever actions Cheney told him to take.

You're right - it's going to be fun watching the rightwingnuts try to spin this into something negative. Pretty soon, they're all gonna be in their chiropractors' offices all the time from all the twisting and bending they're doing these days....................

2. Not exactly
It is hard to say that the President was able to ensure their safety when in fact they were boarded in the first place. That alone was a failure to protect our flagged vessels on the high seas. I'm not saying its his fault, but that is what a Navy is for and ours failed - first time in 200 years I am told.

3. Are you suggesting the Navy should follow around every American flagged ship
so as to protect it? I don't believe we have anywhere near enough Navy ships to do such a thing. I think it is pretty damn impressive that we had a Navy ship on site within just a few hours.

7. That's ridiculous
Most harbors will not allow armed ships in them, even just crew small arms. There are thousands of merchant ships with US sailors or under US flags on the sea, you can't escort each one with a carrier group.

8. I'm in the Navy
and let me tell you. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you can look in every direction and see nothing but water. It's a pretty darn big ocean out there.

Now, if Obama had been given a PDB saying that pirate were going to attack a US Flag Merchant ship off the coast of Somalia, at 1757 on 6 April 2009, with 3 speedboats, RPG's, and read "Pirates Determined to Attack", we may have something :sarcasm:

Anyway, the Navy and the ship handled this in a very courageous and intelligent way.

If Bush were still in office, the neo-cons would be calling for a full scale military invasion of Disney Land.

Hey, makes as much sense as going into Iraq. Maybe even more since they have that "Pirates 3D" thing going on down there, Arghhhhhhh!

4. You know we put to much praise or criticism of Presidents over something
They have very little control of. The people on the scene were the actual rescuers and they deserve the praise. It could've turned very ugly which wouldn't of been Obama's fault.

5. I know that, and so do the rest of "sane" America
That's why I was asking when Insanity and Limpballs would begin "praising" Obama for this masterful military and security victory.

These "rat-bastards" and the Faux News crowd, crowed everytime someone pointed out the idiocy of the past eight years by squawking "He kept us safe for 8 years".

I was just being a little "tongue-in-cheek" with my post.

Watch, the right will spin this as "Pirates attack US Flag ships is a sign of Obama's weakness", whereas, the terrible attack on our own soil that killed over 3,000 Americans is a sign of Bush' strength.

I'm simply anticipating the rights idiocy.

I wonder if Obama had a Presidential Daily Briefing that said "pirates prepared to attack US Flag merchant ship"?
