One down and one to go. I will feel a lot better when there are no empty houses around here.

The new owners have been working on the outside for over a week and have it cleaned up and looking pretty good. I think they are redoing the inside now. The previous family raised a couple of litters of St. Bernards before they walked away from the home so I can imaging its pretty torn up inside.

1. We bought one last month just down the road...just to keep up the appearance of occupancy.
As you say, empty houses are bad news.

2. What happened to the family who was repossessed? I don't worry
swo much about houses being purchased after repossession as I do with what happens to the ones out a home.

6. Never heard the whole story so I can't say
All I know is they both drove new Audi's and were the only people in this subdivision with "Bush/Cheney - 04" bumper stickers on their cars. Guess that didn't work out for them?

8. Maybe they lost jobs. Regardless of party affiliation, I feel badly for the repossessed.

4. I bought a foreclosure for my son last August. Sometimes, I wish we'd waited a bit longer.

5. I hope that happens in my neck of the woods soon...
There are four empty/walk-away/foreclosures in my townhome complex. Though I'm sure California will be the last to recover. There is such a huge gap between principal mortgage and market value. A unit just like mine sold for $450k just before the bubble burst... you'd be lucky to sell for $180 now. Everyone but those who bought new are underwater to some degree... I'm at least 50% underwater.

9. I may have an offer on my house that has been on the market for over 2 years
The buyers are from England and have cash. Now if the realtor can put them and us together we may have a deal. I'm willing to accept their offer.
