State Sues Creator Of Caylee Doll
Suit Also Involves Michael Vick Chew Toy
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The maker of a Caylee Anthony doll is being sued by Florida's attorney general.
According to the lawsuit, Jaime Salcedo and his company, Showbiz Promotions LLC, misrepresented where proceeds from the doll would go. The lawsuit also involves a Michael Vick chew toy sold by the same company.
The company marketed the Caylee Anthony "Sunshine" doll under a promise that proceeds would benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Proceeds from the Michael Vick chew toy were to go to local animal shelters and organizations.
The lawsuit claims that few or no contributions have been made to any of those organizations by Salcedo or his company.
According to the lawsuit, Salcedo intentionally misrepresented a $5,000 donation to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Only a $10 donation has been confirmed.
"This effort is outrageous and attempts to exploit the tragic murder of a child for personal benefit," said Ernie Allen, president and CEO of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. "NCMEC does not and will not ever be associated with any attempt to commercialize or raise money in connection with the victimization of any child."
