Is Anyone Else Kinda Aching to See a Tea Party Riot?
I know a lot of us on this board have been on the bad side of the tear gas, and I know a lot of us have been thrown in the police van over a protest. I came up in the mid-to-late 90's protest culture, so, um, yeah. It was pretty brutal out there.

Am I the only one who's a little curious to see how the teabaggers will hold up when facing down the riot cops? Because this I know: the kids I came up with were brave as hell, and principled. And even when we were scared, they always followed through, and stuck with it, mace and tear gas and clubbings, and, of course, jail.

Maybe I'm getting a bit smug about my past now that I'm in my ripe old mid-30's, but I don't think most of these teabaggers are half as brave as the dirty hippie kids I went through it all with. Kids who sang as cops just soaked their faces with pepper spray. Kids who kept chanting as they were being dragged off. Kids who held formation, who held on tight to the person being dragged off a sit-in until they couldn't, then locked arms with the next group, even though they knew they were next. Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty much ALWAYS against the state's power to do this sort of thing. Still.

I don't think the teabaggers have it in 'em, quite frankly.

I think of the closing lines of e.e. cummings "I Sing of Olaf Glad and Big," a poem about a conscientious objector tortured and killed by fellow troops during World War I (cummings served in the ambulance corps). They go like this:

Christ(of His mercy infinite)
i pray to see;and Olaf,too

preponderatingly because
unless statistics lie he was
more brave than me:more blond than you.

That line always popped into my head in those days when I'd see a little 19 year old blonde-haired hippie girl holding formation against the riot cops. More brave than me...

3. Read the freeps, their battle plan is to hide behind the cops
In their paranoid threads where they fantasize that ACORN and Obamanauts will invade their phony protests to "cause trouble" and "make us look bad", they consistently advise each other to stand next to the cops. They're such wussy-asses. I did notice at the tea party I attended in NYC, there was only once cop in evidence, and he was sitting in a cart behind a barrier, 30 yards from the festivities.

but I do expect a few skirmishes. Mostly because our kids will probably say something to them if they happen to run into them. My nephew and daughter will not stay silent if they stumble upon these batshit goons.

5. Isn't it supposed to be April 15th? That on a Wednesday.
I don't see where it will be easy for people to show up on a weekday.

8. A police riot at a freeper teabagging = WIN!!!
Let's see how much those chickenshits are willing to assert their Second Amendment rights in the face of hats and bats...

This would be one of those cases where two wrongs make a right...

9. Of course in the course of teabagging the freepers could get locked in a dirty sanchez or a 69.

15. Perhaps additional, "sympathetic" protesters could show up with rusty trombones?
76 rusty trombones led the big parade!
