The Pirates are Out of Gas....
It has been reported that the Pirates, with the Captain held hostage, are on a lifeboat that has run out of gas.

What about other supplies? Food, water, etc. This is a lifeboat stolen from the Maersk, how well stocked is it likely to be?

There were 4 pirates initially, assuming all 4 and the Captain made it on the lifeboat, how long can they hold out without being re-stocked?

1. Evidently there's food and water, though I have no idea what kind of supply
but as the hours pass, with more complications added, such as pirates from the shore loading up hostages and attempting to bring them to the site of the lifeboat, the situation grows exponentially more dangerous.

2. Somali pirates vow to take on US military might if attacked
Stranded Somali pirates holding an American hostage in the Indian Ocean under the gaze of a US destroyer vowed today to fight if they are attacked.

The US navy last night called in a team of FBI negotiators and moved the USS Bainbridge into position to try to secure the release of Richard Phillips, who was being held by four Somali gunmen in a lifeboat some 300 miles off the Horn of Africa. But despite an apparently hopeless position, the pirates showed no signs of giving in.

"We are safe and we are not afraid of the Americans," one of the pirates told Reuters by satellite phone. "We will defend ourselves if attacked."

It is really something how one hostage can cause such spiral. Each passing hour makes this worse.:(

8. Fish Food...
if they kill the guy it is time to make it painful for these folks. I am sure they have a shit life, whatever. Drone tag them and follow them back to their homes. 10 20 different buildings. Then flatten them all with 500 lb bombs, at the same time.

Makes a nice point.

They have no way to defend themselves against naval and aerial attack

9. They will be blown into small enough pieces that guppies will have them for dinner.

Taking on the Navy using a lifeboat is not smart.

6. The raft appears to be one of those hard body capsules
that are ejected from the deck. It should be stocked with water and food for the survival of any emergency. Four American soldiers killed in Iraq already today. I am sorry but calling out the cavalry for one man is out of line. I hate to say it but the people on the scene need to do what has to be done to end this thing.

7. It's unlikely an inflatable raft.
It's probably similar to one of these;

Kind of hard to deflate it.
