HUGH! Kiddie Porn Scandal Out of Nashville - Possible Police Involvement - Some Political
Edited on Fri Apr-10-09 07:32 AM by NashVegas
First a little background on what looks like unassociated events.

Four years ago, the Teamsters and an internal group who were unhappy with our Chief Ronal Serpas started agitating to oust the Fraternal Order of Police from representing Metro law officers. They were successful and got the FOP decertified.

To make it quick, here's the Google news link where you can verify all this part for yourself:

http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=%22teamsters%22+%22Fop%22+%22nashville%22&hl=en&ned=us

So the Teamsters took over police union representation, the FOP organized to fight and take it back by vote. And in fighting the FOP off, one of the Teamsters snuck into an FOP-run camp for children and placed video cameras. From the Appeal:

Agents believe the former Nashville police lieutenant was hoping to catch officers who volunteer as camp counselors either drinking alcohol or otherwise acting inappropriately around the children, his lawyer has said.

Quick story, he was arrested and convicted, sued, etc. But no one ever inquired about what, if anything, was on the tapes. That was two years ago.

Two days ago, this happened in one of Nashville's most wealthy and well-connected neighborhoods:

Teenagers have gone for decades to a science teacher's Belle Meade-area home to drink and smoke marijuana. Many went to have sex with each other. Few knew they were being videotaped.

Those allegations were detailed in a federal complaint released Tuesday charging Louis Jay Levine, 52, with producing child pornography. Police recovered 400 tapes, many with handwritten labels, at his Alton Road home near Belle Meade.

The perv in question is the son of a deceased, Old Nashville lawyer who was actually a town council member way back when. Graduated from the best colleges, was a substitute teacher in town for years and had been teaching full time in a nearby community as of last fall. Volunteered for Girl Scouts, even, but was mostly into boys, it seems.

You should read it if you're at all into prurient interests.

What's relevant is in the comments. One neighbor posted that this guy put a porn mag in her kid's Halloween candy bag in 2000, and that she reported it to the police and they did nothing. Another poster screamed about a police-involved cover-up of this guy's activities.

The exchange to pay attention to goes like this:

Replying to BigCoverUp:
(following up his own post)

In fact Kate - before you call - respond on here and confirm or deny the willingness of the
Tennessean to report the absolute whole truth (be sure to note the word "whole"). I would bet we
won't see a response either way.

Replying to Imanupsetcitzn:
It's a wee bit ridiculous to think that the Tennessean or ANY media outlet in this town will
follow and REPORT the whole story on this or any other case. Kind of funny how all the cases in the
media seem to all be connected but our adults of today have forgotten how to play the connect the
dots game to draw a really clear picture. Maybe they are capable of connecting them, but it draws
such a scary picture that they just can't print it. The reporters, editors, and news directors in
this city are weak and afraid of the truth - if the truth is exposed and those responsible are
identified, then tomorrow's story will only be about the lack of news. Proof to these professional
journalists has been handed to them on a silver platter. Kate - the dirty books that Levine handed to
the cops are sitting 10 feet from me. One tv station (oh - truth - Channel 2) had access to them last
night - video taped them, had the whole story. Didn't mention it. The Tennessean doesn't have the
balls to do it either because your editors won't attack the powerful politicians of this town who are
ultimately responsible for what is happening to adults and innocent children. It's called a blind
eye to protect the law enforcement officials who are only interested in fabricated numbers to make it
look like they are doing such a wonderful job. I'm sure you know who I am Kate. If your editors grow
any balls whatsoever and you want the proof to actually print instead of handing it over to the thugs
in charge of the city, give me a call.

Replying to KateHoward:

Anyone who is interested in speaking further on this, please feel free to contact me
directly at 726-8968. We will be following this story today and in the coming weeks.

Kate Howard
The Tennessean

Here's a story Kate...

Did you know that this man was allowed to go to the FOP camp during camp sessions to show the
kids his stuff! Did you know that he brought goody bags to all the kids, and THEN SOME FOR THE
OFFICERS! How nice of him!!!! Hmmm kids got candy, and the cops got eye candy... Also known as PORN!
Hmmm.... FOP, PORN, KIDS, Man tapes kids having sex, FOP counselors have inappropriate vistors at
camp for their own relations, Man gives kids alcohol to underage kids, which allows for them to make
poor choices, Cops at FOP camp drinking around under priviledged kids, which allows for them to
become more aggressive, and make terrible choices.

KATE REPORT THAT!

That was in comment to the breaking story, two days ago.

Yesterday, the Tennessean reporter followed up and confirmed this guy was hanging out at the FOP camp, along with his dad, and apparently the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Our fellow with inside knowledge in the case was back, too, though I'm not sure he added anything new to his previous comments that the press and police knew all about this guy and did nothing.

Today? Not a peep. Not a freaking word.

4. All Kinds of Ickles

His MySpace page is no longer active, but it's in Google's cache. Guy definitely has a thing for teens.

And here's something unrelated, that's equally disturbing: a month ago, the Tennessean (Nashville), the Commercial Appeal (Memphis), and the Sentinal (Knoxville) entered into an agreement to pool their local reporting. ie, Knoxville will save costs by linking to Nashville stories from the Tennessean instead of doing their own reporting, and vice verse.

5. Making it even harder for real news to be spread.
Very frustrating, especially in a state that *really* needs news.
