Krugman has a good column today about making banking boring again.

Atrios' comment is;
"Warning should've been when people started referring to "financial products." Financial institutions are middlemen, skimmers. They don't produce anything. "Financial innovation" is almost entirely a ridiculous concept."

Skimmers, they don't produce anything. That's it in a nutshell and something every American needs to realize.
They are not the lions of industry, they are the hyenas.

1. "middle men, skimmers" that is what we have become. I know several MBA's...
and all they do is move paper from one side of the desk to another and take their cut for "working the numbers". We dont produce anything anymore. We manipulate numbers to eek out a small percentage for ourselves.

3. PERFECT description ....
The same applies to employment agencies and health insurance companies ... skimming middlemen who's only goal is to steal from the 'subjects' as much as they can ....

4. skimmers, middle-men? No, they are called organized criminals or racketeers.

And I use those terms because the entire debacle was engineered by people who knew what they were doing.

5. They're skimmers - now look at the producers.
The Fed - a group of privately-held banks that print money. They don't even print it - they create it out of thin air, then feed it to the banks. They are responsible for creating our debt: Money from the fed to the banks - and then where does it go?

Total scam.
