Stephanie Miller
Don't flame me, please, but am I the only one who just cannot stand SM? I have been listening on a regular basis for several weeks now on XM just to see if I could learn to appreciate her show, but truly I think it is a complete waste of time. Her non-stop comedy routine is now wearing on my last nerve. :silly:

21. same
I handle non-stop political ranting before noon. She gives me 30 seconds of Glenn Beck and turns it into 30 minutes of humor. It's like magic.

2. My favorite talk radio host, actually.
To each his own, I suppose. Of course, since our local left-talk station became a sports talk station a week ago, it's not as though my opinion matters for much. x(

3. I stream KPOJ's local morning talk (Hartmann's station and local show) instead of Steph

I listen to her when I drive on XM, but if I have the choice, I'd rather listen to something else.

4. lots of people find her hard to take
just nobody around here.

Try listening to Lionel instead, on AirAmerica.. Everybody here hates him, so you might like him.

Different strokes.

6. Stephanie is my favorite talk show radio host
Thom Hartmann is a close 2nd. Love listening to the 2 back-to-back.

Lionel is the worse progressive talk show radio host. Can't stand him and turn him off as soon as he comes on.

8. I think Steph and the Mooks are funny. Some of the sound effects, however, do get on my
nerves a bit. I prefer the comedy styles of Sam Seder and Marc Maron (I absolutely ADORED Morning Sedition), but Stephanie is ok as well.

9. I like her
but the non-stop comedy gets tiresome for me too sometimes. I think I first heard her back in the early '90s out in CA, when I was visiting at the time and I wondered who is this smart, funny liberal woman? Does anyone know if she had a local program out there back then?

her then -- it was in the San Francisco area that I heard her. I'd never heard anyone like her before - so funny but super smart too and not missing a beat. I'm glad she is on nationally now.

10. She's a drive time personality
At least in her primary market in L.A. These programs operate on a morning zoo format, because most people listening are in and out of their cars and they only have a few minutes to grab their audience. A little comedy has worked best in the morning.

but I think she goes out of her way to misrepresent herself. Which on a political talk show is pretty shady.

16. One of my favorites
she is a comedienne after all, hence the comedy routine.
The sound effects get a little old, and some of the Jim Ward bits need to be refreshed more often, but I applaud anyone who can make me laugh...

Edited on Fri Apr-10-09 10:25 AM by peaches2003
I don't like Steph and Lionel, but do love Thom Hartman (listen to him everyday), loved Morning Sedition and wish Marc Maron would get back on the radio on XM permanently, enjoy Ed Schultz on radio and his new MSNBC show (which may not be popular here) and Mike Malloy of course. Loved Rachel on Air America and now watch her and Keith on tv every night. I pretty much have XM talk shows on all day and half the night in addition to tv political talk shows. I just find Steph too silly for my tastes.
