12. And then I got a W-2 after I filed
:eyes:

I have a second job and apparently it was sold in the middle of December. So I got a second W2, after I had already filed. Morons, there's a reason they're supposed to be mailed or hand delivered by Jan 31. Anywho, I had to file an amended return and sent in a check for $15. My refund this year bought a kick ass new fridge. :)

I usually file around the end of February as soon as the last of the paperwork comes in.

3. My taxes are very simple. But I always owe money.
Because they aren't withheld from my paycheck.

So I usually file pretty close to the deadline.

Never been late.

I need to know when I send in my very Middle Class taxes.

11. I only had a few thousand in income from Soc Sec, all tax free.
So I don't get any money back, didn't pay any tax.

So I file just to let them know I am still alive.

13. I did a little over two weeks ago...
I usually use Turbo Tax, and my bank was offering a 25% off TT deal that expired, so I got it in before the discount ran out.

Got a refund, which I didn't expect, so it turned out ok.

17. Nasty surprise this year
Found out we owe the fed $4,000. Last year, we got a whopping $2 return, and since we had just about the same amount of income this year, we thought it would be about the same. Oh, but no! Because it was distributed differently--I made a little bit more in my business, husband made a lot less, but didn't have taxes taken out of his unemployment.

We apparently have a kinder, gentler IRS now though. I called and said, can we add this onto the bill we're already making installment payments on? Why, yes, Good Citizen!

BTW--for Turbo Tax users--another nasty surprise there this year. I bought the package in 2007 for fed and state. When we tried to download the update online, couldn't do it. Support told us, you have to buy it every year. Ridiculous! So I went to TaxAct online, and did the fed for free, something like $12 or $14 for state.
