2. He's A Gift That Keeps Giving...

Of course Drek is important...to himself and his narcasistic viewers. They provide plenty of amusement and has proved how detached he and his rushpublican coven have gone. It's all smoke and mirorrs, zero substance...and shining a little light on it makes sure the moderates and independents (who bolted from the GOOP thanks to its extremism) get to see it in all it's wingnuttery glory.

Be assured, DU isn't going to bolster Drek's ratings. He's got a captive audience...literally. Hold up in mom's basement and captive to "ideas" and a failed track record that appeals to maybe 20% of the country...and then his ratings indicate he doesn't even draw 10% of that 20%.

The dude is an amusing assclown. His antics show as much desperation as they show some kind of populism. It's a constant reminder...and a visible one...about the forces some of us worked very hard to minimalize. Ignoring them won't make them go away, but ridiculing them and pointing out their hypocrisies helps keep them in a box.

If I'm not too busy I try to read a few newspapers online everyday, follow quite a number of political and economic blogs to get different perspectives on the facts, and of course I read DU.

Are you suggesting I'm an ostrich because I think it's a waste of time to slavish follow every incoherent rambling of a lunatic who only speaks for the outliers on the far right side of the political spectrum? Guilty as charged, I guess.

12. I was replying your allegation of "boosting" not personally attacking you

Since I am a prime perpetrator of documenting here what wingnut crap I run across --I frequently get flamed along the lines that

1) I am "boosting" the ratings of wingnuts by listening to/watching them.
2) I should STOP my monitoring of them or else BE considered a wingnut.


Re: 1), I am not an Arbitron/Neilsen rater, so I *don't* boost their ratings.
Re: 2), there's nothing like first hand experiencing something, rather than rely on some second hand source telling me what is approved canon and what is NOT party line. I am strong enough not to be contaminated by fearsome enemies.

And I will add that much of what goes on in an internet discussion board is group "ain't-it-awful" bonding, besides pooling intel.

Implied in your allegation that by posting (documenting) what the wingnuts say is that persons who READ our posts are going to run over there and "boost" their ratings/audience. I don't think so. Some fellow Dems might sample just to see if things are that bad, and possibly to check up on our own posters' credibility in reporting the wingnut outrage.

So, no, I could hardly attack you since I don't know you, although flaming does just that all the time. Just replying to the "boosting" and "advertising" allegations and the implication that we are "slavish(ly) follow(ing)" the wingnuts.
