Warren bails on "This Week" interview

Instead of explaining contradictory statements over his actions regarding California's Prop 8 on same-sex marriage, Rick Warren went with Plan B today: he didn't show up for a planned interview on ABC's "This Week."

"For those of you tuning in this morning expecting to hear from Pastor Rick Warren, we were, too," said host George Stephanopoulos at the start of the show. "But the pastor's representatives canceled moments before the scheduled interview, saying that Mr. Warren is sick from exhaustion."

Added a cool but surely unhappy Stephanopoulos: "We hope he recovers quickly."

As Mike Allen detailed in Playbook yesterday, Warren oddly argued on Larry King last week that he “never once … gave an endorsement” to the controversial ballot measure when there's video evidence of him arguing for its passage.

We now know that Rove has files, so those of us who suspected such are NOT paranoid tin-foilers. Now, what do you suppose might be in Warren's file? And how much was Flynt looking to pay for information again? Is it true Rove and other bushies are having trouble finding jobs? My my the possibilities. In a down economy, information not only is power, it is currency.

Havocdad says Warren is busy getting his tear ducts fixed so he can cry on demand for some upcoming public announcement and plea for forgiveness. Hmmm, is there a Haggard moment coming up? A prostitute with embarrassing day book entries? Or has Rick Warren actually seen the light and joined the human race?

My bet is on Larry Flynt having written a check to someone with the dirt.

I guess Brother Warren still hasn't quite figured out what his "purpose" is going to be to drive his life at this point. If he disavows his advocacy for Prop H8, his fundy pals are going to desert him. If he affirms his Prop H8 bona fides, he won't get to go on This Week or Meet the Press or Larry King anymore. Dither, dither. Better send your PR guy out to make excuses for you, Brother Warren. Which is just what Jesus would do, doncha know.
