She heard about "tea parties," a series of anti-tax protests planned for April 15 — the federal income tax deadline day — searched the Internet, and discovered none for Broward County.
Before Beck's program was off the air, she was the coordinator of the Broward Tax Day Tea Party. On Wednesday's protest agenda: opposition to taxes, the federal economic stimulus package, and bailouts of corporations and people who can't pay their mortgages, O'Brien said.
"I just am very disheartened with the things that have been going on lately with the government," said the Sunrise resident, who never did anything political before watching the Beck program a few weeks ago. "I shouldn't be having to pay for corporations. I shouldn't be having to pay for people who got themselves in a mortgage they couldn't handle."
Here's the best part...
'Even though she'll be on the front line protesting taxes and government spending, O'Brien said her husband's earnings as an apprentice electrician aren't enough to cover family health insurance. So their two children get their health care through the government's Medicaid program.'
Medicaid?!
Uninformed. Perpetually wrong. The irony is delicious.
