Just wondering. Seems like a lot of kids missing school there.

In case anyone is interested, Sidwell Friends (private) is off today according to their website calendar.

1. Haven't been school age for many years but back in my day, both public and parochial DC schools got
Easter Monday off. Completely unrelated to Easter egg roll.

2. I believe it is usually part of the spring break.
Gives families who travel for Easter a chance to get back home. At least that is how it was when I was in school.

3. It's Spring Break,
so kids at the Easter Egg Roll aren't missing anything. This is usually when families take holidays, but it seems the Obama family stayed in DC. I guess Dad has to work, unlike his predecessor, who would have stayed long enough to preside over the Roll (maybe), and then hightailed it to Crawford, where "clearing bush" (i.e., hiding in the brush, drinking) was much more important than anything in Washington...............

5. I always had the week before Easter for spring break
but I gather the week after is also a common choice; that's probably what you're seeing.
