Edited on Mon Apr-13-09 02:43 PM by lame54
What are there most of on this site

option 4 in it's entirety:

Know nothing, no context, I want blood and nukes, and don't want to know how

this situation came about or what the responsibility of the international community is for this long simmering mess, I'd rather just implicitly blame it all on stereotypical Black African savagery

1. You left out, "Know nothing, no context, I want blood and nukes, and don't want to know how ...
this situation came about or what the responsibility of the international community is for this long simmering mess, I'd rather just implicitly blame it all on stereotypical Black African savagery."

If that were an option, and most people were objective and honest, that would get the most votes.

3. I disagree.
While that's certainly a significant omission. They don't constitute the majority, simply the most loudmouthed and obnoxious.

Oh, and you forgot to mention how they're suckers for tabloid news, and they're very insecure.

4. You fool yourself ..
if you think the most of the pro pirate/Somali posts are about Somalia. Give it 2 or 3 more days and no one will be talking about this anymore. It'll be on to the next "outrage".

No one was talking about this on DU until this incident, and once it passes no one will give a shit again. It's sad.

16. Good question...
There have been stories coming out of Somalia for the last few years, so I'm sure that I have. I recall Halliburton hiring Somalians for Iraq, and of course the resource wars. While much is under the radar, what isn't?

22. There have been posts about Somalia before this. Not many, though.
I remember because I didn't know anything about it and it was all new information to me.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5447195&mesg_id=5447195

In 1991, the government of Somalia collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since – and the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country's food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas.

Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing off the coast of Somalia, dumping vast barrels into the ocean. The coastal population began to sicken. At first they suffered strange rashes, nausea and malformed babies. Then, after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore. People began to suffer from radiation sickness, and more than 300 died.

15. Somalia has been treated deplorably.
It's a shame the people here think that these desperate people in a desperate situation are now our enemies - just because the corporate MSM tells them to.
