I think using torture defines a civilization.
Those that torture are either sadists and/or terrorists.

Those that support torture or pretend not to know about its use are small minded idiots that somehow think that bringing harm on someone else will make them safer or feel better. These people want revenge not justice. They like to watch Nancy Grace and 24.

Some will tell you that torture is not effective. I would disagree. It is very effective when you know it's purpose. It isn’t intended to gather useful information, like some would have you believe. Everyone with the intelligence greater than a termite (or Faux News listener) knows that no useful information is gained from torture, other than on 24. No, the purpose of torture is to terrorize the population into capitulating. A terrorized population is easier to control.

Often overlooked is the cost of torture. Just think about it. If you decide that someone needs to be tortured, who do you ask to do the dirty work? Do you get a normal 20 year old rank and file soldier to do it? If so, you’d have to harden them into a sadist to be able to do it. Or would you look for someone already a sadist and encourage them to torture. If so, I hope they don’t move in next door to me. Another cost of torture is that for every person you torture you create 10 to 100 terrorists.

If you have to use torture to win your war, you’ve already lost.

1. Torture is used to obtain false confessions.
It was never meant to obtain usable information. The premise is ridiculous.

But to obtain false confessions to prop up a dictatorial regime, to give "proof" of terrists or to back up a war? Well, yes, torture can do that.

Because, no matter what you believe, you won't be able to control the practice and because as it spreads, the people will rise up.

You've just sown the seeds of your own destruction.

5. We as a nation have embraced junior's, dick's, and rummy's torture, imo,
until it is widely, loudly, and unequivocally renounced by the administration, on both sides of the aisle in Congress, by the courts, by the MSM, and by the man on the street in every town and hamlet in the land. :P

treated the least among us. You know, widows, orphans, the poor, and prisoners, too.
