British Police to Face Yet Another Probe for Police Brutality at the G20 Protests

The Metropolitan Police said video footage on YouTube which appears to show an officer hitting a woman during the G20 protests would be examined.

The footage shows the woman swearing at a police officer who then appears to hit her in the face on 1 April.

The officer also apparently strikes the woman on the leg with his baton.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it would look into the new footage of the London protests that has been referred to it by the Met.

(I will get a link to the youtube video when I find it; I somehow doubt it shows the woman swearing)

1. Watchdog wrong in G20 CCTV claim
The police watchdog has said its chairman was wrong to say there was no CCTV footage of an alleged police assault at the G20 protests.
>
Independent Police Complaints Commission chairman Nick Hardwick had said CCTV cameras were not in the area.

On Thursday, a day after the commission took over the inquiry, Mr Hardwick told Channel Four News there was no CCTV footage because there were no cameras in the location.
>
"From the outset it has been a main line of our inquiry to recover all CCTV from the Corporation of London and from all private premises in the area," said an IPCC spokesman.

I'm sure the IPCC will take on the case of the woman you mention and other too form the street CCTV footage as well as Youtube stuff.

2. Video with sound here

You can hear at least one swear word from her (about who, I couldn't tell), but so what? He slaps her in the face with the back of his hand, and when she complains, he hits her at about knee level with his baton. Definite assault.
