Can someone post a quick explanation of this "teabagging" stuff?
I don't watch the news, so I don't know if it's been explained there, and from the threads here, I'm still trying to figure it out from context. Best I have gathered is, on April 15th a bunch of rightwing crazies are getting together all over the country to toss tea bags into rivers as a protest because they don't want to pay taxes. ???! Am I close? Can someone post a quick explanation?

Do they think they're re-enacting the Boston Tea Party? That seems to make no sense, unless they're protesting sales taxes on tea.

(And honestly, I get a different mental image from the term "teabagging.")

There IS no quick explanation. There aren't two of them giving
the same reason for the "protest". Some seem to think their taxes have been raised (not true). Some seem to thing that Obama has created a brand new deficit. (also not true).

There IS no explanation, quick or otherwise. That's why I find the whole thing breathtakingly hilarious!

4. The most basic explanation is that they are racist assholes..
and they can't stand that we finally have a black President.

All the other reasons are just cover for their racism.

It plays on the xenophobia of the undereducated. They are going to protest because their media propaganda is telling them to. They don't know why, but it's because the richest want to pay less taxes.

20. in a word, yes
and cover themselves with the reflected glory of the founding fathers.

Except that the FF were protesting because rich corporate tyrants weren't paying their fair share. and these aholes are protesting because Obama might make rich corporate tyrants pay as much tax as they paid during the Reagan admin

They've been brainwashed & Foxnews can make them dance like little puppets/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teabagging

The right wingers, of course, think they're hearkening back to the days of Colonial America when there really was taxation without representation and, being morons, are using tea bags to symbolize the chests of tea that went into Boston Harbor. Never mind they're just throwing temper tantrums because they're overgrown children who haven't been told "NO" in a long time and because their team's representatives got whipped.

Read the Wiki article and enjoy all the unintended humor on the right wing signage. I'm sure it'll be a neverending source of amusement that will dwarf the contribution of the "Get a brain morans" guy.

17. teabagging...
Teabagging is the art of dipping ones teasack in and out of the receiving persons mouth simulating the act of dunking ones tea bag in and out of the cup. Tomorrow many mouths will be open and awaiting their turn.
