5:30 CST Mountain Home Ar TEA BAG PROTEST
Source: Live Gonzo reporter

Attended local Tea Bag protest at the town square Mountain Home ar
Approx 1500 people
A young man approx 30 yrs was the "emcee"
Had 3 prayers and invocation from Christian minister (denomination ?)
NO Democratic speakers
1 local Republican state Rep spoke
Talk of repeal of "estate tax", capital gains tax
Strong anti-EFCA speech
Bashed the 2 Democratic US Senators
Bashed the districts Dem Congressman and 2 adjoining district Dem Congressman
No criticism or mention on ANY Republican officerholders past or present

I arrived at approx 530 CST and left a little before 6PM

If this is any indication of any other "tea bag" protests they seem to be pretty one side

Just a quick observation from small town America

1. "They seem to be pretty one side."
Yep. When Faux, Dick Armey, and co. are sponsoring, er, promoting these things, they are one sided.

5. I didn't bother to drive by the one in Harrison
I'm sure it was well attended, because the economy isn't so bad here. There haven't been the massive job losses you see elsewhere, and so people aren't hurting as much--and also don't realize that they are making more money because Obama gave them a tax cut. Also, sad to say, there are, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a few hate groups around (KKK, neo-Nazi) who simply can't stand having a bi-racial man as President.

7. Doing pretty good
We had a busy day with patients at the Foundation, including one from Mountain Home. BTW, Saturday, June 1, we're having our annual Health Fair, with FREE checks of blood pressure, lipids, and blood sugar, FREE food, massages, and I'm not sure what else yet. We're also having a raffle for numerous items, the largest being a Gazelle exercise machine. PM me if you want more information--I'd love to meet you in person! How's things going in your neck of the woods?

8. Things are pretty quiet here with the exception of the "tea party"..........
.........I was a little shocked by the 1000+ (the Baxter Bulletin estimated 1000) people that attended. If all the confused "teabaggers" across the country could be convinced that being progressive is their ONLY hope for a better life, we could have single payer, the best education system in the world (again), cleaner planet, and I could go on and on. Maybe we can get together at a political event sometime (NO TEA PARTIES, THOUGH, HA HA).
