You might remember Joe Republican from this little ditty.
http://www.masterjules.net/diddled.htmAnyway...
Joe Republican had a horrible nightmare, of welfare, health care for everyone, and a Democrat was in charge! Eek!
But what woke him up? It was the ringing of a bell from down the hall.
He rushed down the hall to the room at the end of the hall. There was a rich man sitting in the bed. This rich man didn't work a day in his life, but when mommy and daddy kicked the bucket, he got all of the wealth. However, in Joe's eyes, this guy is an "earner."
Every day Joe has to sign off on giving this wealthy man a tax cut, it takes money away from schools and roads, but some day, far in the future, this rich man will create jobs and prosperity for everyone. So far, he has just used the money to make himself richer and put it all in an offshore tax haven, but he'll do it when he gets around to it. You'll see!
Another bell rings, Joe rushes down to the bankers, where he signs off on a bailout for them, and then signs deregulation to make sure they're too big to fail. For a moment, Joe ponders the contradictory thought of companies being too big to fail inside a free market system, but then he whips himself for his anti-capitalist/anti-conservative thought and then the bell rings again, this time it is big oil.
Big oil is doing fine, but it thought it would be cool if it get some corporate welfare too, in the form of big tax cuts and subsidies. While Joe is admiring the record profits of the oil companies, they tell him that the price of gas will be going up again this summer, but they say that they aren't to blame, it's the fault of the environmentalists. Joe nods in agreement like a sycophant on steroids.
After a long day of signing away his government to the highest bidder, Joe goes back to bed, but he is proud that at least he isn't giving his government away to the moochers and welfare queens.
