10/7/1996 - Fox News Channel Is Launched - October 7th A Day To Mourn The Death of Journalism?
You have to be impressed with how Fox News has grown since its founding in October 7, 1996 into an independent propaganda arm of the Republican party. Worse, an argument can be made that Fox News and Rush Limbaugh are the de facto leaders of the Republican party. For example, the Tea Bag protests would have been dismissed as a bunch of kooks if it was not for Fox News throwing its weight behind this, and heavily promoting the event. Fox News has actively lead the charge behind the impeachment of Bill Clinton, the election of George Bush, the invasion of Iraq, the defeat of John Kerry, and the current efforts to spur in insurrection against President Obama through tax protests against a President who is lowering taxes for middle class families.

Perhaps October 7th should be a day of mourning. The death of journalism. The birth of infotainment. The death of truth.

Fox News Channel (FNC) is a major American-based Cable News and satellite news channel owned by the Fox Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of News Corporation. As of April 2009, it is available to 102 million households in the U.S. and further to viewers internationally, broadcasting primarily out of its New York City studios.

The channel was created by Australian-American media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who hired Republican political strategist and former NBC executive Roger Ailes as its founding CEO. The channel was launched on October 7, 1996<1> to 17 million cable subscribers. The network slowly rose to prominence in the late 1990s. In the United States, Fox News Channel has been rated as the cable news network with the largest number of regular viewers.<2>

Critics and some observers of the channel say that Fox News Channel promotes conservative political positions. Fox News Channel publicly denies any bias in the channel's reporting.
