Levi Johnston lawyer raises possibility of custody fight

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Levi Johnston's lawyer is bristling at suggestions from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's family that the 19-year-old is a deadbeat dad.

Anchorage attorney Rex Butler tells The Associated Press that he wishes Governor Palin's father would get his facts straight.

Johnston and Palin's daughter, 18-year-old Bristol, have a nearly 4-month-old son, Tripp. Since the couple broke up, Johnston has claimed in several national television interviews that the Palins were limiting his access to the boy.

Palin's father, Chuck Heath, claims in a story to be published Friday by Us Weekly magazine that the unemployed Johnston isn't financially supporting the infant. He said he wishes Johnston would take some money from the interviews and buy diapers for Tripp.

Butler told The Associated Press that Johnston was not paid for the interviews, and is tired of the Palin family's characterization of his client.

Butler says Heath was "trying to make the young man look like a deadbeat father, and, you know, they may have a rude awakening one day if he tries to get custody."

10. Guessing Palin isn't worried about
Fathers' rights groups going against her?? Cuz I'm thinking that's who we will be hearing from next. Where's those family values at now, Palin??
Palin family is going down a dangerous path here. Levi's lawyer could bring Bristol's myspace entries into this if they start trashing him too much. Specifically the one where she complained that Track was telling on her to her parents about her being a "stoner" and how she was going to do some revengeful things to Track's family jewels because he snitched on her.
Or perhaps her last myspace entry where she wrote "ha, I'm a slut". All are documented in detail over at the palindeception blogsite.

2. Only from the righwingnut fringe lunatics do you get, in one sentence, the irony:
"Bristol is focused on college, advocating abstinence and raising Tripp."

8. Bristol advocating abstinence is like the Octomom being a spokesperson
for conceiving children naturally ...

I'm talking about the baby, not either of the parents.

The media circus that baby is going to have to endure....*shaking head*

7. Has anyone asked Heath about those "hundreds of thousands" of gifts
that he said overflowed in his house back in December that he said were given to the baby "from around the world"?? Saying that the baby had more stuff than he would ever be able to use?
Hope Heath and the rest of the Palins plan on sending some of those things over to Levi's house for the baby to use when he wins his visitation rights.

Bristol Palin does not need our charity. But at last count, Chuck
Heath says there are one hundred thousand gifts waiting for baby boy
Johnston. Yes, you read that right - one hundred thousand.

He admits she'll probably never use them all (ya think?), but
I've yet to hear any offers to give these things away to a pregnancy
center or maybe make some Christmases brighter around Alaska.

Chuck Heath: For Bristol's baby? Oh, I don't know. all kinds of gifts laying around the place — all kinds of baby stuff. I’m in a room right now just full of baby stuff — more than she'll ever use.

GP: From all over the country?

CH: All over the world. I'd say a half-dozen foreign countries. In Sarah's mailroom, there's 87 boxes — big boxes of mail that haven't even been opened. I've been answering letters all day, all week. We figure there's over a hundred thousand pieces here. And we'll never get it done. We're just inundated.

GP: What kind of grandmother do you think your daughter will be?

CH: My daughter will be a great grandmother. She's a great mother — great daughter, great mother. I don't know about how much time she can spend, she's so busy. But she'll get her licks in. Don't worry.

9. Sorry, but Levi needs to get back and finish his senior year of HS or get a job.
Regardless of who gets custody.

12. Can I just say how much I LOVE Sarah Palin...?
Can I just say how much I LOVE Sarah Palin...?

How glad I am that McCain picked her to be his running mate. How ecstatic I am that both she and her family refuse to leave the spotlight.

Vanity, they name is Clan Palin. :P

I do feel a bit sorry for the kids though, but I'm that way about the children of any politician who treat them as props for their theaters of the absurd.

13. I'm sure there is a lot of dirty laundry that the Palin family wouldn't want made public in a
custody battle. I just can't help, though, feeling sorry for that poor, innocent baby.

14. All of those kids including
Levi and Bristol (Trig, Piper, Willow, Tripp) need a more stable environment. They should run off and join the circus.

15. The kid would probably be better off with Levi's family than with the Palins.
Levi's Mom has been in a bit of trouble, but nothing she can't reform herself from in a jiffy. The Palins are just fucking insane, period, and their lives are one big slimy ball of toxic chaos. I bet Tripp would be happier and healthier growing up with Levi and his folks than staying with the Palins and being used as a political prop along with "uncle" Trig.
