1. When I posted
yesterday afternoon in the Music Appreciation group it was just under 6 million - awesome overnight increase.

As mentioned elsewhere : I hope the friends of those in the audience pulling faces can see how shallow they are. Judging someone by their looks is like chosing a radio because of its colour.

I noticed in the early hours of this morning , here in the UK , when Sky new switched over to CBS they were featuring the subject so I'm guessing the USA got that too.

3. it was on CNN's AC360 briefly Tuesday night and on last night's edition as well
They showed a very brief clip on Tues and Christiana Amanpour played some more as http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/15/the-shot-susan-boyle-wows-britains-got-talent/">The Shot when she was hosting last night.

I totally agree with the friends of the audience thing. I also hope the same thing can be said about the people who watched it on TV when it was broadcast and reacted the same way.

7. I'd found it by accident
yesterday lunchtime GMT - it was on Yahoo UK News. I'd already guessed it must be something special. Apart from that its what people are like on the inside which counts : not the surface.

A similar situation arose with Paul Potts a while ago : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEo5bjnJViA&feature=related

4. As a hobby musician myself, I know only too well. I'm so thrilled for her!
So few amazingly talented people get recognized, it's often luck of the draw. This woman
got her chance and blew them all away when they thought she was a joke. The joke was on them.

A friend of mine told me of a famous violinist, some Nigel Kennedy-type whose concerts sell out
at Carnegie Hall. As an experiment, he set up in a subway corridor somewhere, dressed as
un-extravagantly as he could, and just played away with his hat out for people to toss money.
He collected about $30 for a day's work. He must get about $30,000 a night when his name is posted.

I hope some day Susan Boyle (and those like her) get their day in the sun. Especially someone who
seems so real and down to earth as she does. That's what makes her instant fame so much more
joyous to realize.

9. That would be Joshua Bell.
It was a stupid set-up during D.C.'s MORNING rush hour. Unfair to everyone, I thought, but provided enough fodder for 13 pages of bloviation by Gene Weingarten.

11. The video itself is a very compelling, well-told, compact Cinderella story
There is a fine hand at work with that video. The set-up, the intro shots of her, her charming geekiness in her interview on stage, the reaction shots of the crowd thinking "this frump? no way", the first notes of her song, the reflexive surprise and awe that sweeps through the crowd, the judges faces, the backstage Rosencranz and Gildenstern( I just love those 2 guys!)the FANTASTIC rendition of the rest of the song and then the awesome final response. The building of the story arc was just perfect.

And voila! We have the entire world's new sweetheart underdog. Her story is worth a full length movie.

Cheers for Susan Boyle!

The only reason people are interested in the story is because she's ugly.

That works great for youtube, but it won't translate to albums.

23. Simon Cowell is already working on getting her an album contract
She'll make her album; the first will sell. Eventually she may or may not fade; that will depend on how broad her performance range is and whether she's merely a good singer or a really good performer. So far she looks to be a quite good performer. I hope she finds a solid niche to build a career from. :)

Doesn't mean he plans to go through with production. Or that it'll be a hit.

The first might make enough to return investment. But it won't be a pop hit. And she'll never be a pop idol.

Although I'm sure she can squeeze enough money out of this five minutes of fame to live comfortably, if she plays her cards right.

There's much more to life than that. Susan Boyle just told you so.
