Please send some good thoughts for Symbolman today
He's awaiting gall bladder surgery... Hopefully it'll happen today, then he'll be in recovery for a few weeks once out of the hospital. We've had a rough go in recent years, and truly appreciate all the support we've received from DUers.

If you could, keep him in your thoughts today... send him a little energy, or a prayer for his health and well being.

8. Ya Shafee Ya Kafee
(Oh Divine Healer, Oh Divine Remedy). I said a prayer for his healing on all levels-physical, emotional, and spiritual. Best wishes to him--have him visualize his gall bladder and the surrounding area bathed in white light, with everything going fine. Sure it is "woo woo" but it doesn't do any harm, can keep his mind off worries, and, who knows? It might help! I did this before the second set of dental surgeries (the first had resulted in heavy bleeding), and the second set went much better than the first, with no bleeding or complications. This is why I suggest doing this.

14. Thanks!
Yes, we do the visualizations - they're indeed helpful... and I told him earlier today to focus on breathing... in, out... I said, "it works for pregnant women!"

He started cracking up and told me not to make him laugh! "Ouch!" he said.

29. If he can focus on his breath
that will be of great help. When I had a tooth extracted, that's what I did, and they wound up not having to use as much painkillers as they thought they would, even when they had to drill into the jawbone.

79. He's out... finally. And now I'm mortified.
Well, the good news is that he's out, and the doctor said he should heal just fine.

The part that pisses me off is that the doctor said he'd been ill for a very long time, and there was damage from several attacks he's had previously. Said the main bile duct was badly damaged and that the gall bladder was basically non-existent, it was so bad.

Sym's been in horrific pain for years... he's been so knocked back the last couple years... I'm... just... so... pissed.

He's been to the doctor repeatedly for this and even to the hospital in Maui for this as well, but they didn't do anything about it, and it makes me mad he's been suffering for years because of this... literally suffering.

Please pray for a smooth and speedy recovery with no complications now!

Nobody should have to suffer like that for years. Awful.

82. Happened to my mom too
Hers burst. And she also complained of pain for years. You would think they'd know what the symptoms of this are and how to effectively treat it, wouldn't you? My mom's was so bad, infection spread to other parts and she ended up having to have surgery on one lung as a result. I can see why you are feeling angry.

Why do I think this would not be an issue if we had decent healthcare system that responded to problems before they grew life threatening?

Give poor Symbolman a big hug from me!

80. Is it laproscopic surgery?
I had that a few years ago. Gall bladder problems are horribly painful but I seriously felt better immediately after I got home from the hospital. I hope he does too. I think he will be amazed at how much better he feels. Sending good vibes.

88. Yes, laproscopic
I'm really hoping he feels a lot better after this. He's been in a lot of pain the last few years - it's really taken him down quite a bit.

I'm hopeful... despite being livid.

Edited on Thu Apr-16-09 11:57 PM by The Hope Mobile
His energy will rebound. His nausea will be gone. He'll feel like a new person. Its amazing what a difference it makes. So glad he was able to get it done. He'll be better than ever in no time.

I guess it is pretty hard to catch. I just got lucky because my own doctor had had the exact same thing a month or so before. Did he have a lot of pain in one spot on his right side under his ribs?

Very best wishes for a super speedy recovery! You're going to be thrilled by the difference in his quality of life almost immediately.

140. Yeah, he's had a lot of pain
But here is the kicker - he's been dealing with this for several years. He even had an ultrasound in the Maui hospital, and they said he had gall bladder sludge and that it was a gall bladder problem - but then they didn't do anything about it!

It makes me SO MAD that the problem was diagnosed, but no action was taken until now, at a different hospital!

He's feeling much better already.

Tell him to save it in a jar. Mail it to Rush Limbaugh. Tell him that's what listening to him does to healthy organ tissue!

89. That's funny - mailing it to Limbaugh...
He's in good hands with the doctors, I think... he's stable - they're taking care of the pain at this point...

On the other hand, I'm completely shot... didn't sleep last night and am barely making sense today. Can't think straight to save my life. Can't do simple math right now.

Get well ASAP guy! I just dodged the same thing day before yesterday. I had to go to the ER a week ago because my gall stones went crazy on me too. That is some hard core pain. Day before yesterday I talked my doctor out of operating on me for the time being, but he warned me that I have that to look forward to in the not so distant future.

Sending the good vibes your way today...

114. I was listening to Symbolman and American Stranger before there was Air America
before there was Keith Olberman, and before there was even DU in my life. In fact, the first time I heard DU mentioned was on Take Back the Media. A few days later, I saw a link on buzzflash.com to this site, and clicked on it. My life hasn't been the same since.

I'll keep Symbolman in my prayers.

But please don't push your beliefs on me during a time of hardship.

Respect that perhaps my reality is different from yours, and that we each have different ways to cope with the stresses in our lives. If I want to stand on my head naked and recite the alphabet backwards because it makes me feel better, you would have no place judging that.

Thanks.

142. Update on Symbolman
He's doing great.

They monitored him all night and the fever he had is down, and he's feeling like a new man. He's got some pain, as is to be expected, but he can get up and move around - all is good. Mentally, he says he's feeling extremely clear - like a thing that's been poisoning him for a long time is gone. He had a lovely Jello breakfast, some broth, and even apple juice. He's waiting to work his way up to pudding...

He's been reading this thread, and hopefully he'll chime in here soon.

Success so far, let's hope he heals well and that there are no complications.
