GOP-Are they killing themselves?
Seeking positions on the GOP ticket in 2012: Palin,Jandel,Perry, Gingrich, maybe Bachmann...No real viable candidates here.

They dusted Newt off because they needed an "intelligent" republican to counter Obama, but they just got the same ol'Newt instead-he wants to run the party- not much help here.

They have NO plans, NO policies, NO ideas, NO leaders. Just say NO is all they have

The "old moderates" are getting old indeed: Specter will be facing a primary against Pat Toomey, McCain is being pretty much ignored by his party, lots of these folks are ready to retire, leaving the entire GOP to the real idiots.

To me, it seems they are killing their own party, and the elections in 2010 and 2012 will just accelerate the process. It's funny and scarey at the same time - who knows what will be next!

4. As Democrats we underestimate the GOP at our peril.
Sure, it looks like a joke now, but get complacent, get cocky and let down our guard and they'll be back. Count on it.

5. Generationally, it doesn't bode well for the GOP. They"got nuthin'" as the tag line goes.
And a whole new generation of American voters are taking over the process. Right now, the GOP is stuck while having to reach back to tired old Limbaugh and Gingrich. Only the old white creeps are really listening. And they're half dead. Texeira and Judis have done masterly works on this generational and geographical sea change in our populace. The pukes have to read it and weep. Unless Obama does something really stupid, I don't see how the future is looking good for the leaderless, issueless, clueless GOP...

7. The only thing they can offer are the same old failed policies they have
been talking about for 30 years.

"cut taxes"

8. They are dying of natural causes. Most of them are pretty old, have you noticed?
John McCain is one of the middle-aged ones. They are old, white, and middle class. An endangered species at this point.

Unless they find a way to appeal to younger folks, they are going to fade further and further away.

9. The best part of the GOP loss in November is that
by and large they have drawn the wrong conclusion. Their leaders have decided that McCain didn't win because he wasn't conservative enough. Fact is, he didn't win for three other reasons: First, the country was ready for change after eight years of Bush. Second, McCain ran an incredibly poor campaign, jumping from issue to issue and coming off anything but a leader. And third, he picked Palin... which dramatically cemented to rational Americans that ideology was more important to the GOP than competence.

They now are in search of another Reagan, who was terribly conservative, but not nearly as conservative as the legend. IMO, they will now either tear their party apart or put forth an incredibly unelectable right wing candidate in the next cycle. Barring a complete failure on the part of the Obama administration, the GOP will make re-election a foregone conclusion. The GOP needs an Eisenhower, but based on their misguided assessment of their loss, they are currently looking for another right wing stooge.

10. The Republicans seem to have no interest in governing or the
welfare of the country, only in scoring political points, but they don't know how to do that anymore.
They seem to be stuck on the same old thing from Reagan days, believing that if they just keep repeating it louder and nastier, people will be attracted to them.
They really have NOTHING!
They will degenerate into violence and hatred.
