My right-wing Facebook "friends" are getting more insane by the day.
Here's today's gem:

"<Name Redacted> wanting to know when Pres. Obama will classified as a facist now that military personnel and all conservatives are considered terrorists."

1. Ah, the loyal Limbots
Too lazy to read any reports for themselves, they eagerly sup the swill dished out by Limbag that distorts the information in those reports.

There is not much you can do about the stupid and lazy except to point out the stupidity and laziness and hope there are enough sane people reading it to know the difference.

2. Clearly, you have some idea of what this guy is talking about.
Could you explain, please, because I just can't figure it out.

17. The Limbecile went on the air
screeching about the report warning of several specific right wing groups stockpiling weapons and told his idiot listeners that the report said all conservatives were now the enemy.

No, I don't listen to Oxypig. I saw the whole dismal performance on Olbermann last night.

However, his loyal listeners now think all churchgoing conservatives have been targeted by the mean old socialists now running Washington.

Anything to boost gun sales, I guess.

18. That in itself is a great FB status:

5. I got in that argument with one of those yesterday.
Edited on Thu Apr-16-09 08:28 AM by asthmaticeog
Apparently, the DHS memo is in reality a coded warning that conservatives are going to be rounded up. The strictly informative DHS memo, that exists only as a heads-up to law enforcement that a credible possibility exists of a growing threat to public safety, that contains not even the slightest whiff of a binding call to action, and specifies repeatedly that its scope is limited to armed would-be revolutionaries is apparently actually a new *law* that makes all conservatives terrorism suspects.

He kept comparing it to the Patriot Act on the (correct) assumption that I opposed that. I kept pointing out that the memo is just information sharing, and is neither law nor even policy. Then he got off on a tangent about how "the left invented racism" :wtf: and I just stopped responding there. I don't want to delete all my RW friends from my Facebook page, but I don't need to be spending my days arguing with dumbfucks of that level.

edit:typo

6. One of my professional colleagues "friended" me on Facebook
and I discovered that not only is he a Republican (not surprising, considering his personality) but also a candidate for his state's Republican Congressional nomination.

I immediately joined the Democratic Socialists' group and made sure that was on my wall.

7. The big question is...
...why are the Hate Speechmongers (like Rush) promoting this craziness? They're trying to get Obama killed, plain and simple... there is no factual basis in any of their spew. All emotional. Dangerous.

...seeing some of my old pot-smoking, peace-loving buddies members of some of the wackiest repuke groups there...sad.

:(

9. A Fascist!?
But I thought he was a Socialist! :sarcasm:

Aren't those two philosophies supposed to be on the opposite sides of the political spectrum? That's like saying someone's an Atheist-Christian.

Edited on Thu Apr-16-09 08:53 AM by NeedleCast
He decided he had it wrong. He said that he was wrong about Obama being a Socialist and that Obama is instead a Fascist. That's a pretty big mistake to make, considering that those two ideologies are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

11. Here's another gem, about Tom Tancredo:
"<Name Redacted> still has not figured out why some US citizens have COMPLETE freedom of speech in their hatred of this country, while other citizens' speech is muffled because it is considered by a few to be "unacceptable." Just ask Tom Tancredo."

I'm assuming he's talking about Tancredo's suggestion that we bomb Mecca. Was Tancredo's freedom of speech "muffled" in some way?

13. We've been having some awesome smackdowns of the GOP on mine
What few GOP'er "friends" I had are dwindling by the day. Once they are confronted on their bullshit, they would rather run away from it so as not to disturb their beautiful little minds.

I'm convinced that these people are wired differently. They can't grasp critical thought and are some of the most arrogant, obnoxious, and downright idiotic people I have ever come across.

15. I'll tell you what it is: RUDE

I try not to shove my opinions down people's throats on Facebook.

I might add a publication or a fan page of someone I like. I try not to get too preachy because
everyone has to read it and I know not everyone agrees.

between a facist and fascist
before he/she goes broadcasting

22. It's bad enough...
...when people talk like that about drunken nights out on Facebook, but when discussing politics? Oh dear.

The usual right-wingery I tend to come across on Facebook tends to centre more on Jeremy Clarkson and immigrant baiting. On a more positive note, here's the DU Facebook group!
