US sees surge in white supremacists
http://www.metro.co.uk/news/world/article.html?US_sees_surge_in_white_supremacists&in_article_id=621360&in_page_id=64

The recession and election of a black president has led to an increased risk from white supremacists, US security chiefs warned.

An intelligence report by officials at the Department of Homeland Security was issued last week alerting law enforcement agencies to right-wing extremists using the economic downturn to boost recruitment.

Security around Barack Obama has been tight since he was elected as president last year as a result of the perceived risk from racist groups.

1. SURPRISE!!!!!!!!
I told my young friends a year ago that if Obama won, they would see manifestations of racism like they'd never dreamed they'd see in their lives.

So now the haters are just daring to come out of their closets, that's all. They were always there, but now they've got a really clear target - President Obama - and that gives them focus.

I am so afraid for him and his family all the time. Even though he's guaranteed SS protection for ten years after he leaves office, he's going to require security around him and his loved ones for the rest of his life.

What a country, huh?

They were there all along.

11. They're just taking advantage of the fact that the "First Amendment Zones" have been
discontinued. There's a true irony here...the loudmouths who now enjoy the freedom to spew their idiocy are the same ones who worked to prevent dissent from being allowed for eight years.

13. well, not really irony, more a double standard.
irony would have been if they believed EVERYONE's voice should be stifled, which I don't think was ever true. They only wanted everyone else's voice stifled but their own, so they are being consistent. -- no irony at all.

I am desiccated with mortification.

15. Unfortunately There's Worse To Come...
The splintering and ongoing failures of the rushpublican party is adding kindling to the hate groups. Their corrupt leadership's disregard for truth or honesty...just pandering to their shrinking horde makes this problem worse as it gives voice to the most extreme elements and has marginalized any moderate or rational voices.
