Now we're the same as other torture states, only different by degree. Thanks a lot. Happy karma, Mr. president.

1. I am so fucking depressed ...........
I just hit a funk that I think will be eternal.

I really am floored by what Obama has done - or not done. How he's turned his back on all the horrors clearly committed by those vile people who preceded his team in the Oval Office.

I figured there was a deal made when Chimpy Fucknuts didn't issue a shitload of pardons as he tripped out of office, and now I'm sure I was right - the deal was that Chimpy wouldn't issue pardons and Obama would make sure no one was prosecuted. That's how the kibosh was put on the Spaniards.

Now, to me, Obama's no better than Gerald Ford, another one who made a deal and let The Big Dick give the finger to American justice.

I honest to fuck cannot believe I'm seeing this TWICE in my goddamned lifetime ..............................

2. If he's turned his back why would he release the memos?
All this drama is giving me a headache.

3. That's his compromise
Obama raison d'etre is compromise. Working with everyone. The third way.

Well, he's not going to torture. He will eventually close Guantanamo. He's the real deal.

He doesn't get that the next guy may be worse than Bush and by letting them go, he has set precedent.

Not that even prosecuting would stop future torture, but it's all we got. Some teeth to the old nugget "America doesn't torture." Instead of "America doesn't torture except when it's attacked and it really has to,and memos say it's okay and then nothing happens."

6. There's no more to come ...........
Party's over. The thugs skate, and will never be held accountable for what they did.

And now the world knows that the United States of America is a country that tortures.

These two articles pretty much put it all away: http://tinyurl.com/dcutfz and http://tinyurl.com/cktdrg

Tonight, and probably for the rest of my life, I am ashamed of my country............................

7. Articles are a dime a dozen...from both sides.
Unless I live in the presidents mind, I don't know what he's planning.

8. I would like to believe you're right,
but I can't imagine what might come next, not after these pronouncements.

There is not a prosecution in the world that can go forward without the cooperation of the United States. And I don't see that forthcoming.

Maybe the judge in Spain will overrule their AG, but, right now, I wish I could share your optimism.

I hope you're right. I really do .............................

9. Obama
Obviously, he is better then the alternatives. I can't prove it because I don't keep a journal, but after the election when he allowed LIEberman the traitor to caucus with the Dems., I wrote that it was the beginning of the end. Now comes the middle of the end, and we should all know what the end is. NO prosecutions for war criminals, NO prosecutions for the looting of our pensions and our future, and NO real effort to curb the energy companies with a real push to alternatives. The only thing to do is the pragmatic thing, which is live every day as well as you can, make the best of it, and never, I say never trust a politician.
