1. A man of conscience cannot help exterminate people in ovens
Nuremburg responded to that. Torture is an evil act. Is it the same as extermination? Nuremburg as a comparison just seems a bit extreme.

5. That's nonsense
If the U.S. were a police state, this website, and/or your ability to access it, would not exist (see China, for example)

6. Right, oppression is only oppression if it's really obvious
and ham-handed.

Sure, we can talk about this stuff on here. But can we actually change it or do anything about it? Not as far as I can tell. So why not let us have our useless talk?

11. Now you're oppressed too?
In what way, exactly? I'm sure the citizens of Myanmar or North Korea would be interested to hear about how the U.S. is a police state that is oppressing its citizens.

It is our right and duty to criticize the actions of our government and elected officials when it is warranted, but it is also our responsibility to be honest with our criticism. Describing the U.S. as an oppressive police state is akin to saying someone was beaten to death when they only had a black eye.

9. Priciple III
Principle III
The fact that a person who committed an act which constitutes a crime under international law acted as Head of State or responsible government official does not relieve him from responsibility under international law.

7. Why Nuremberg when
"nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past?" (Obama quote)

Much of the European continent lay in need of massive rebuilding and/or reconciliation yet somebody decided to spend time "looking back" instead of looking forward? Huh?

:sarcasm:

15. And if "nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past?"
why does Germany still think John Demjanjuk should be handed over for the crimes he committed during WWII?

(I know, it's Principle II - you were a Nazi and the Reich lost)

that no one is above the law. Did he lie?
