Soldier in Iraq (friend) conversation on my Facebook today
I took out the names. but this is the conversation. and it pisses me off to think that even ONE of them is still over there or anywhere. .
the soldier speaking is a friend of mine.

soldier: You keep telling yourself it's going to happen but it still doesn't prepare you for the day when you lose another one of your soldiers. R.I.P. Sgt L....

From our unit???

soldier: at 6:51pm April 16
We were in the same platoon before they moved me into a different one.

damn... with the IED that hit my buddys truck last month and the pick up in activity... they might leave us here longer

soldier: at 6:58pm April 16
There were 6 IED's in Baghdad the day before the pres was here. Not sure on the total number of casualties but things have picked up since it's the 10 year anniversary of Saddam's statue being taken down.

Yeah its getting crazy... Alot of Insurgents moved back into the local village so we've been getting hit alot

Stay alert for the dangers out there. Be cautious of young females walking by themselves cause they've been using a lot of them as suicide bombers. Also, be very wary of houses that hang bricks with rope on the walls. That's an anti-coalition sign. Make sure your dukes are on and see if you can get a boomerang if you guys don't have one. I can assure you that the boomerangs really do work. Ours went off when that sniper took shots at us in Al (name of town removed)

2. One thing that stood out to me
things have picked up since it's the 10 year anniversary of Saddam's statue being taken down.

It hasn't been 10 years, but I'm sure to them it FEELS like 10 years. I'm so sorry these men and women from both sides have had to experience this disaster. I just hope it will end soon.

Best of luck to your friend.

6. This is a really terrible thing the last Admin did to everyone involved in this mess
with their lies and propaganda.

Do you think Bush/Cheney give a rats ass?.?.? They certainly aren't losing any sleep over what they wrought. They're still making money off this mess. Everybody else be damned. They deserve to be locked up and waterboarded, and if I had my way that is exactly what I would do. As well as making them watch videos of the destruction they caused 24/7, without any sleep. A constant reminder of their actions.

How much longer is he expected to be there?.?.?

I wish your friend the best and offer whatever protection I can send. I'm sorry they are stuck in this mess. Let him know that there are people here who care about his/their safety and well being and hopes he/they can stay out of harms way.
