1. There's No Justification...Period
I've stood with President Obama on many of his controversial decisions, but this one is one bridge too far. I applaud releasing the transcripts with few redactions, but that demonstrates even further the need to investigate and prosecute those involved. These were violations of international laws we are signatories to...some of the few internation laws of basic human decency. The concept was you don't torture since it could happen to your troops...letting this blatant violation of not just law but human decency can't be swept under the rug...it just condones future abuses, and those could be against Americans. Political expdiency can't trump the law...especially one long decided and recognized by a majority of the world...and it won't heal wounds here as it gives a pass to the very same people who launched an illegal war for profit that President Obama is now stuck trying to find a way out of. He just made his own problems worse.

2. I agree with you KT. I've been disappointed on a number of issues
since the President was sworn into office but like you, this one takes the cake. I will write to the WH today to voice my displeasure. It's becoming more and more evident that there are two sets of offenders: those who can get away with murder and the rest of us. Not happy.

3. I've Tried To Justify The "Move Along" Meme
As one who came of age during Watergate, I was extremely disapointed that Nixon never was held accountable, but in retrospect, we saw a lot more prosecution and "punishment" for those crimes compared to nothing for the far greater crimes and abuses committed during the boosh regime. Cheney saw that once Nixon was gone, the public's attention from the past would quickly fade and many of the rats who ran the Nixon machine would resurface again under Raygun and the boooshies...doing more damage along the way.

IMHO, History will be the ultimate judge on the crimes even if many of these crooks slip into the night, and it won't shed a very good light on the past 8 years...and as KO observed last night, but his actions, it also makes President Obama linked to these crimes as well due to his "move along" attitude.

It's a tricky political game he's playing here. He wants to assert leadership over the CIA and DOD and the pressure on that end to "move along" is a compromise as they have a lot of influence and political sway on the blue dogs and "conservatives" that President Obama feels he'll need to pass other legislation. I can understand compromise, I can't justify capitulation.

5. You said it beautifully with this: "I can understand compromise, I
can't justify capitulation." I've got to remember that, it's perfect. Thanks.

Well, made it through eight years of Bush-bizarro world. Looks like we're just starting on eight years of Bizarro-Barack-world!

Why do I seem to know more about the Nuremberg principals than CIA operatives? Isn't our entire national security at risk if those in the CIA have no clue about what is legal and acceptable under international law?

America seems to no longer stand for justice and law. Oh well.
