Remember when Bush* got on the TV and said how distraught he was at how the Iraqis had the gall to put our GIs that were captive on TV. Why he howled that was against the Geneva Convention and it just was an inhuman thing to do..Just to put our guys on TV. No physical actions taken against them at all. Bush* and the Wing nuts were all outraged.....So I ask again would it be okay for the Taliban to treat our soldiers in the same manner we have treated them?

1. Because human rights only apply to WASPS in the mind of the Pukes.

2. I have always thought that howling about our guys being on TV
was a justification for 'proper' treatment of AQ prisoners by keeping them secret - secret prisoners, secret prisons.

I personally have no problem with seeing prisoners on TV - so long as it is not in an abusive or coercive fashion. Simply shots of men standing in lines or in cells, all that does is confirm that they ARE prisoners - which means they will have to eventually account for them. If they are on tape for the world to see, it's hard to have a Vietnam-like "hidden POWs" situation.

3. It's a very real concern
for me and other military personnel overseas in harms way. Not to mention Merchant Marine crews or other Americans on the high seas near Somalian pirates.....

5. I always wondered about that.
I thought one of the main compelling reasons nations adhered to the Geneva Conventions was to protect their own troops from torture when they were captured.

Furthermore, doesn't a country's reputation for humane treatment of prisoners encourage enemy troops to surrender?

6. I thought the Geneva convention only applies to regular military personnel?
Are irregulars or "enemy combatants" subject to the same rules of war? When we saw those bodies of American troops being dragged through the streets of Baghdad, I thought the perpetrators were Sadaam Fedayeen - the irregular paramilitary group?
