http://www.adn.com/news/politics/story/762619.htmlJUNEAU -- Alaska sportfishing groups flexed their muscle and successfully blocked a commercial fisherman from taking a seat on the Board of Fisheries.
<snip>
In a joint session Thursday, and without debate, lawmakers voted 42-16 to reject Brent Johnson, a lifelong Alaskan and set-net commercial fisherman from Clam Gulch on the Kenai Peninsula.
Johnson was one of two rejected Palin appointees, along with her nominee for attorney general, Wayne Anthony Ross. Lawmakers approved one other Board of Fisheries appointee, former Superior Court Judge Karl Johnstone, who was called into question because he now spends part of the year at a home in Arizona.
