put in jail for cruelty to an animal. If an American tortures a person from another country, or even from this country, nothing happens..what am I missing? Is there a law I'm not aware of that allows this? Somehow it just doesn't sound right to me. Maybe some congresscritter can explain it?
Calling all congresscritters!! I need an answer.

2. If they were trying to incite unrest among animals, torture would be legal
As it is, animals don't own oil-rich or pipeline transitory land, nor do they grow poppies.

3. Everyone lost their minds after 9/11
Bush prayed on most many Americans fear of another attack to justify using tactics that other countries define as torture but tactics that most Americans were unaware of. This went on for a while until most Americans even realized what water-boarding was. For a while a great many Americans simply didn't care what tactics the Bush Administration was using because there was so much anger in the country that people didn't care to look what was going at Guantanamo Bay. When people finally woke up to what the hell was going on in this country it was too late. The damage had already been done. The shame of it all is that in twenty or thirty years when most people look back to the tragedy of 9/11 they will remember the torture that went on at Guantanamo Bay and in Iraq and Afghanistan, instead of remembering the over 3,000 people that were killed in the attacks on 9/11.
