Put yourself in the shoes of the people who did this for a moment. You've been exposed as using torture, illegal wiretaps, and illegal detention; but other than a PR setback you really aren't punished. What are you going to do when you get back in power? You're going to seek revenge.

These memos are a smoking gun demonstrating that torture was a policy set at the highest levels of government and carried out by people throughout the chain of command. Can you imagine how pissed off they are? These people pose a threat in the future and it must be made impossible for the to ever again have ANY power. Such threats are properly handled through a legal process rather than a political/electoral process. Just as it would be insane to allow a common murderer or rapist to be judged by a public vote, it would be very foolish to rely on the voting public to be sure that these criminals are not able to access the levers of power again.

2. Here's an idea
Perhaps this has been revealed and Obama is giving them a pass. But say the outrage climbs to levels that can't be ignored. Then Obama would HAVE to prosecute and it wouldn't look like a witch hunt..........

3. My fingers are crossed
But it can never happen as long as it is a one sided attack. It can not be a Partisan issue. Is the Mainstream News Media showing any outrage over it. Is the news of solid evidence of Torture being distributed on all networks or is it being kept quiet?
