Check out the celebrity list at the tea parties

Its on fox news. I think the guy playing the guitar was Ted Nugent. There was an actress I've never heard of and Penn Jillette was there, a magician.

So that is the best they can do? A guitarist who was famous 30 years ago, a magician and an actress who may be famous but I've never heard of her? It is times like this that I am glad that if you are a creative, artistic person you are far more likely to be a democrat or progressive. We'll keep the vast majority of the countries professors, scientists, intellectuals, humanitarians, artists and musicians (and single women too). You can keep the Nuge and Penn Jillette.

If Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix were still alive I bet they would've voted for Obama.

1. A lot of hippie types grew up to hate the government. Remember what happened to Jerry Rubin.
He became a right wing crank.

I know sixties 'rebels' that made that evolution, so you just can't guess how Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison would have reacted or evolved.

14. Just in my personal experience its unusual; not unheard of , but uncommon

I'd say that 80, and more likely 90 % of the people I've known for a long time who were "hippy types" are still, on balance, on the progressive side of most issues. No empirical evidence to back this up, just personal observation over a lot of years. And yes, of course I know a few that went over to the other side ,mostly on personal instructions from Jee-zus, after a bit too much booze and drugs, and a few after making serious money, but mostly the former reason/excuse...

12. They weren't hippie types
because the whole hippie ethic completely escaped them. They were elitist Trotskyist types who had no use for either democracy or the government it produced.

Remember, communism as practiced in the old USSR devolved into a right wing phenomenon, a rigidly top-down power structure wherein the party had supplanted the old aristocracy.

It comes as no surprise, then that the New Left types gravitated toward the authoritarian right wing movement.

They only grew long hair because they thought it would get them laid.

7. I was happy when I thought that clip died the day after July 4th
It is nice knowing that a chunk of the world knows I hate Bush that much, though. :D

6. Where's Patricia Heaton (Raymond's wife) these days? Has she
deserted the repukes or just moving under the radar. I think there was a backlash to her career after her right wing activity, her fan base was not impressed.

8. She's probably trying desperately to revive her career
and may not want to alienate producers or casting directors:)

9. I don't know
perhaps getting more plastic surgery? If I recall, she went on kind of an opposite publicity tour during the same timeframe Jamie Lee Curtis was showing her non-airbrushed body and its flaws.
