this problem has been going on for a number of years now, and you just noticed???? great, you're playing right into the hands of GOP owned media

what he did was sit by and allow ransoms to be paid for high value vessels, which guaranteed that you'd be a fool and an ass NOT to be pirate if you lived in that part of the world

do a little research for yourself, the answer to your question is not exactly a state secret

i was in the area in 2007 and the pirates were active then, they even threatened a cruise ship from france at the time (i was not on the cruise ship in question, too high euro for moi!!! but it was the talk of the region)

From what I gather the predator class doesn't think it a big enough problem to do anything about. The ransoms are cheaper than protecting all the boats. Why the predator class got it's cable news propaganda machine to whip up a diversion over this particular event is a mystery to me.

Work with the international community to bring it to a halt. Its not a sexy answer, but I'm guessing that is what he'd do. Piracy has been a problem for several years in that area.
