Yahoo Poll: Were the tea party protests well founded?
Q. Nationwide "tea party" demonstrations got a lot of attention this week as protesters attacked President Obama's tax changes. Chief among complaints was the contention that the pricey stimulus plan will be a burden on future generations.

Critics dismissed the "grassroots effort" as a ploy engineered by Fox News hosts. Obama supporters also contend his stimulus serves middle-class families when they need it most.

What's your take? Were the tea party protests well-founded?

Yes. Obama's tax changes are irresponsible. 73%

Perhaps. There are pros and cons to the plan. 5%

No. We are at much higher risk without the plan. 21%

Not sure/No opinion. 1%

5. Tax cuts irresponsible ...

I agree. The tax cut these people got should be rolled back, specifically for them.

9. Yahoo must be a favored site among the teabaggers.
I have noticed that Yahoo tends to favor capitalism and fiscal conservatism.

12. What tax changes? Yahoo is perpetuating lies...
The people that are not Limbaugh plants are protesting future taxes to pay for the bailouts...

"A notice sent to the Clarion said the "Alaska Tea Party" gathering is to send a message to leaders of both parties that taxpayers are angry about the bailouts, increased debt, pork projects and other wasteful spending rampant in Washington, D.C.

"We're not anti-tax," said Carol Keller, one of the organizers of the Soldotna rally. "We just know the new taxes coming down are going to be overwhelming."

13. Maybe they mean the tax cuts? Not sure why they'd be protesting that though.

14. I think they are protesting the amount of tax money it will take to pay for the bailouts
They are protesting the bailouts- the looting of our nation. And we should be joining them not making fun of them.

The left has played right into the Corporate media's hands. The one thing that had all of us united...the bailouts. Our Congress admitted that their phone calls were 100% against the bailouts. Instead of joining these people and being happy they finally got off of the couch, we are calling them idiots.

Our Goldman Sach's government just robbed us blind, but look at the stupid freepers!

Bushco spent so much time, made up so many lies, ignored the UN, violated international law....just so the could take Iraq's money and oil and rip of the taxpayers with their 'reconstruction' scams. But that was a pittance compared to what the bankers just made off with!

15. I know, was being sarcastic. I agree with many of the signs they had, reasons they had
many others (protesting Obama, birth certificaters, anti-choicers, anti-immigranters, etc) I laugh at and mock. However, seems they should be protesting Congress, and why the hell they weren't out protesting during bush yrs pisses me off also.

That is why I call them idiots. Not for the ones who made sense, but for those who were just whining.

16. "why the hell they weren't out protesting during bush yrs pisses me off also"
Oh I agree. But they are close minded and all wrapped up in idolotry. This is why I think now is the time to unite. WE are smarter than them. We can see the bigger picture. We are not so stuck on our side that we can't see what is happening. They are finally protesting, and we should be joining them.
