I think I'm seeing the start of a pattern ......
Obama spoke about making direct loans to students, effectively cutting the legs out from under Sallie Mae.

Sallie Mae has now said they're moving a callc enter back from India and the Philippines to the US.

Delta, and the rest of the airlines desperately need some relief and are looking to the feds for help.

Delta announces they're closing an Indian call center and moving it back to the US.

I don't know if this is a pattern. I don't know if there's any connection whatever between the two plans.

I do know that groundswells start as barely discernible ripples.

3. He takes small steps,
and I think entities and individuals are starting to catch on, because he has a nice follow-through - except, of course, in the matter of prosecuting Chimpy Fucknuts and his thugs for torture, but I guess I'm just going to have to learn to live with that ongoing miscarriage of justice.

Obama's got the "Big Stick" thing going on, and so he can avail himself of the great luxury of speaking softly.

Compare this pattern to that infamous and bogus "Mission Accomplished" mentality, and doesn't it make you just want to puke - I mean, more than usual?

11. Tangerine you are correct on Obama's follow through.
And many of your other insightful posts are correct as well.
However you have missed one point: there will be justice
on the torture issue. It will take time but it will happen.

12. Came out of my small new prayer room to say, I'm on my knees in here, because
I will never give up the hope so I'm enlisting the only guns bigger than Obama,
which are universal justice and all the Gods of the present and the Past.
Karma never sleeps

5. I work in a call center for an Internet Service Provider
All our customers are in the US, of course, and so is the call center. Many people tell us how glad they are that we are in the US with American workers, and that they would be very frustrated if we were not... almost all of them have called tech support for a software program or piece of hardware and gotten someone in India.

Its hard enough to deal with technical calls when you both speak the same language really well, but thats just one issue. People are very aware of American jobs being sent overseas and they hold it against the companies that do it.

8. A Tale Of Two Software Companies
We recently switched from PCs to Macs. More accurately, we're switching. We have to keep the PCs running for this or that bit of software we use.

Tax time. We upgrade from Quicken 5.0 to whatever the current version is.

Bang. The upgrade goes south, we lose our converted data. It will not import our old backups. It put so much shit int he registry that we can't even roll back. And it will not connect to our bank.

We are fucked.

We call Quicken. We get a few of the BangaloreBoys who mean well, try hard, but just follow a script. Long story short, they say we will be contacted in a few days and nothing ever happens.

We also cannot put Quicken on the Mac because the bank says the abort connect causes some security thing to click in and it will not connect to another version until we clear it with the old version which isn't working to allow us to start a new version ...... and round and round and round.

We look for Mac software to replace Quicken.

We discover MYOB, written for the Mac and recently ported over the the PC. But mainly a a Mac-centric product. They are a genuine US **small business**. They are in New Jersey. They answer their own phones locally. They have support specialists who work from home around the country. All English speakers, all trained in the software, all expert at fixing shit.

Same price as Quicken. Pretty much the same capabilities. Much better service. And **that** is why we chose them.

7. All I know is that when I heard about cutting out Sallie Mae
I jumped for joy! I'm one of millions paying through the teeth to those thieves in order to finance my education. If Obama's proposal to make direct loans has the side-benefit of reducing outsourcing by these crooks I'll do a little dance. :bounce:
