Why on earth would you waterboard
somebody 183 times in one month unless you are a sadist? By the time he had been "drowned" enough, he probably was catatonic or in extreme mental distress of some kind. If he wouldn't tell them whatever after a few times, my guess is he was telling them about "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" at the end. I wouldn't bet on anything he said at the beginning much less what he said later.

1. I doubt they were interested in any information.
They were just interested in torturing. To break someone down and destroy them. Gitmo was pretty much a big torture research lab to see how far they can take someone.

2. Inflicting Fear
I spent a tour of duty at the Navys SERE school back in the late '60s where all the students are/were interogated, some of which could have been considered torture although I never witnessed any waterboarding. To be stationed there and to be a part in the training all had to have gone through the school ourselves. From start to finish the school was six weeks of living hell and I mean living hell. Intergating is to gather info, torture is to inflict pain and fear, not only in the tortured but in anyone who might be following in the footsteps of the tortured.

3. The Bush Crime Family specialized in torcher
Edited on Sun Apr-19-09 08:11 AM by Cali_Democrat
They were experimenting to see what they would get away with. I think there's probably a whole lot more that has been covered up. We're only beginning to see the tip of the iceberg.

This picture is probably Disneyland compared to what went on behind closed doors.

I'm also curious about these floating prisons on US destroyers. I wish I could know a lot more about them. Only a sadist would come up with the idea of floating prison ship that protects torcherers from the rule of law. Sick. Sick. Sick.

4. i agree they were and are a pack of sadists.
the other reason is that they wanted confessions to back up their lies.

in the spirit of the inquisition.

6. Well now we know what bush was doing when he was not running the country
I just think its sick that a sitting president would fly all the way to cuba just to torture people (who are probably innocent) just so he can get his rocks off. You would think he would be too busy to go down and hurt people for fun.
