Is torture just a Partisan issue?
Edited on Sun Apr-19-09 08:55 AM by Bandit
Seriously, why is mainstream America not up in arms over these Revelations. Does most of America and all of the Republican base just accept torture as a new American tool for fighting this unending war? Why do you believe torture only seems deplorable to the Democrats and the Liberals? I always believed America a better place than that. Am I that warped in my beliefs?

1. Protecting the power structure...
is what they do. "We the people" are the only ones who can pressure our representatives to act. Cheney etal., must be furious these memos were released.

2. No, there are Republicans who want investigations and
prosecutions, just as there are Democrats who want to move forward without accountability.

3. Are there any Republicans of note saying they want investigations or
is it just your opinion there must be some?

5. Just speaking of everyday type people who are registered
Republicans that are not happy with their Party.

I would prefer not to say that Democrats are against torture while Republicans look the other way, both positions can be found within the each Party.

4. I firmly believe that there is a difference in the morality of Republicans and Democrats
and it baffles me how a Democrat can have any meaningful relationship with a Republican.

6. Well, I am biased. I value human rights.
and I think there's where the line is drawn.

If you can just write off torture, you don't have any - not one iota - of value for human rights.
