One of the dirty little secrets to eventually see daylight:
Edited on Sun Apr-19-09 09:18 AM by frogcycle
Of the many suicides among active duty military during the past eight years, a not-insignificant number occurred away from the actual war zones, at - you guessed it - detention centers. One of the more notable was a Guantanamo guard who one day folded up his clothing neatly on the beach and (presumably) swam out to sea.

Several occurred in Djibouti. As far as I know there is no publicized detention center there, but military police are known to be deployed there. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/djibouti.htm

Somehow I suspect there are a number of cases of remorse for having carried out orders.

If and when there are investigations, perhaps some of this will come to light.

2. Or they were suicided when they decided to swim against the current and tell on
their actions involved.

I was speaking with a VET at a rally about 2yrs ago.. he had said he was on mission, and worked with explosives. They blew up bridges with civilians on them.. the commander said do, or die right here while pointing a gun at his head. How do you make a moral judement in that case?

4. that possibility exists too
Whatever the case, there is plenty to come out if the effort is made.

It somewhat astonishes me how easy it appears to be to cover stuff up in our supposed "open" society.

Whatever the real story of the JFK assassination, there certainly seem to be many unexplained aspects. Same with 9/11. Without putting on a tinfoil hat and starting a conspiracy rant, I just mean to say that the powers that be seem all-too-readily to be able to just quash stories.

When you look at the incessant drumbeat on HCNN or HLN or whatever it is now called, with that Nancy Grace every night belaboring Jon Benet or the "Tot mom" but no attention whatever to real stories of unresolved mysteries... questions of what exactly happened to person x or y... of course her harping on those stories is PART of the official distraction, I suppose...

3. A Living Boooosh "Legacy"...
The scars of the Iraq misadventure will have long term, profound affects on this country. Just like we learned of many Vietnam attrocities years later, the same is sure to happen here. The abuses by the boooosh regime are just beginning to come to light. Many of our worst suspicions are turning out to be true and there's gonna be more to come forth.

From Erich Fromm if I remember correctly.
