$1 a Day Campaign Against Coleman
A joint project by Democrats has flipped traditional fund-raising on its head, by starting a campaign aimed at collecting $1 a day from supporters “to make Norm Coleman go away.”

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a new group working to get like-minded candidates elected, has teamed up with Howard Dean’s Democracy for America to tap the wallets of Democrats who are disgruntled by the five-month-old ballot contest in Minnesota between Mr. Coleman, the former Republican senator, and Al Franken, the Democrat.

An email sent yesterday to well over 1 million addresses culled from the two organizations’ mailing lists asked Democrats to contribute $1 to help progressives oust Republicans in 2010 for every day Norm Coleman “refuses to concede.”

“Think about how this Dollar A Day will change the game,” the email continues. “If thousands of people sign up, and Republicans up for re-election in 2010 see the progressives who are out to defeat them get an infusion of donations each day that Coleman is obstinate, what do you think will happen?”

So far, NormDollar.com has raised $15,000, according to Adam Green, who first floated the idea — unsuccessfully — to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee last week before deciding to launch the campaign on his own.
