State of Play.... The movie
IMHO, Ben Affleck nailed Rick Santorum in this one! His congressman character was even from Pennsylvania!
All in all, (for me) one of this year's top 3 movies.

1. I can't get past Crowe's hair
But I've often thought that Affleck is more talented than he gets credit for being.

13. Affleck's not so great in this one
at least imho. Very stiff and robotic.

Jason Bateman gave a great performance.

14. Jason Bateman is always good
Even if I wanted to kick his character's ass in Juno!

2. I dunno.
I saw this movie last night. Remember, the congressman portrayed by Affleck was out to nail the Blackwateresque operation and the military industrial complex for gouging taxpayers. That's not exactly the direction Santorum would go in. He also served in the military, unlike chickenhawk Santorum. Maybe more of a Sestak...

6. Yes. That was some great TV.
Larisa Alexandrovna says the ending they tacked on for the movie is 'idiotic.' I have not seen the movie yet, but loved the BBC miniseries.

4. The U.S. movie plot is inspired by the 'Duke' Cunningham/Blackwater/Wilkes scandal
but I highly recommend the original BBC miniseries. I believe you can get the DVDs on Netflix. Great TV and the plot is set in the Bush-era Blair government.

7. Loved it, but still can't figure out the end. 'Bingman' knew where to go , who he called, how Crowe
knew Affleck were there. Did Affleck actually think Crowe would be killed? The $26K reference was proof of what, who knew what, when?

I believed Affleck was confronted with confirmation of Sonia's activitires at the motel, as well as the pregnancy. Daniel's Whip was to keep tabs on the investigation, scuttle it, as protection for the corporate 'Blackwater'?

12. I don't get *how* the $26K reference was a big lightbulb moment
for the reporter, at the end of the film.

11. I enjoyed it, but the plot holes in it are big enough for a Mack truck to drive through.
So much doesn't add up.
