Why not? Is it only good for people with funny names that we isolate on islands or in a war zone?

1. I don't know why they haven't already....
I'm sure plenty of people would advocate such a policy.

3. they don't need to
there are quite a few deceptive techniques, Miranda loopholes and other coercion that do not require torture. For example, we will arrest your spouse, take away your children, you don't have to talk to us, but you can talk to them,.. but we will charge you with the 1st degree felony if you don't cooperate., etc. I've seen it over and over, the coercive power of the state is huge, overt torture not required.

6. Your name reminds me of Hoeryong North Korea
where torture in Camp #22 is routine. I'm not trying to be snarky, the name just struck me that way. :-)
(and you're right...I have seen it too...right here in the good ole USA)

8. I'm not familiar with it
the only depiction of North Korean torture I ever saw was in a bs James Bond movie where the North Koreans were blamed for the blood diamond trade, which was laughable propaganda.

5. They don't need an excuse of 'interrogation.' They do it
because 'they can.' Remember Rodney King???

7. Why not? Cause they are likely to screw it up. 99% probably not qualified.

Seriously.

The department of homemade homeland security lives and while I posted a star wars spoof in jest ... personal experience dictates.. that the local fucking idiots should not and must not have the resources or the blessing of federal agencies.

12. If you've been following the news, they have been.
There's a huge scandal in Chicago because it has been proven that the cops were torturing confessions out of black people for decades.

I can't believe that Chicago is the only place that happens. That's just the only place where it was so systematic that people were able to document it and do anything about it.

I'm sure it happens more often than you would dare to believe, and more widely than you would imagine. Especially to poor and minority people who have been rounded up by the police. :(
