Question about public schools - two of my grand nieces go to public school

and I get the local paper which publishes their school paper in it's edition. There are articles in there by the guidance counselor and she always has the "scripture of the week" at the end of her column. And there are also many other references to the Christian religion. I wonder if this is legal.

If I were you I'd make anonymous queries about it (you don't want to get your nieces in trouble.) Someone might just pull that counselor aside and tell her to knock it off.

I'm not anti-religion or anti-Christian, but let's look at this from a different perspective...

Can you imagine how outraged the Glenn Beck crowd would be if this guidance counselor included
a Muslim quote of the day or the Hindu prayer corner?

What if she gave a daily Scientology-based pep talk?

No religion should be furthered with tax dollars. Separation of church and state.

6. call up hte school, talk to principal and ask her. listen to what he/she says respectfully

and let us know what is up and what he/she says.... and are they truly scripture or inspirational pieces. like matthew 6:5????

I knew it was illegal but am not sure what to do. I also know if I talk to any of the staff there, they will not keep it anonymous. I thought about asking the editor of the newspaper there about it. What do you think? This is a very small town.

because of their availability as targets of the powers in the school that promote that nonsense.

If you can complain in a manner that doesn't identify your grandchildren I'd say feel free, on the otherhand you will want to be quite diplomatic.
