Since we have graduated from circular firing squad and herding the cats
to circling the wagons and setting up camps
tossing stones over fences on the common ground of DU
stirring turds into the common punchbowl
even using the name and image of our appreciated and fallibly human president
to antagonize and divide, despite his core message of We're All In This Together;
even overlooking the sacrifice of accountability and prosecution of the previous administration
that was made, supposedly necessary to acheive a Democratic President and Congress;
let's take a breath
quit poking each other in the eyes
quit taunting
quit tripping over our own trips.

There was a Time when a man had a Dream
and this nation, those who would have been DUers,
shared that Dream.

We knew that it took EFFORT TO GET ALONG
and that that Dream would not be handed over without long struggle.

This president proves that the nation has reached a moment of judging character and not color.

What does it say about our character that all we can do is pick fights with each other?

One thing it says is how far down the rabbit hole we are, how successfully The Powers That Be have alienated and balkanized us. ON PURPOSE.

Hell, that's the only reason people got all flabbergasted at Obama's Democratic Convention speech in 2006.

Most of us are determined to only get along with people who agree with us on fundamentals, and we seem to have a long list of fundamentals.

We are the Jets and are determined to not be in it together with Sharks. They ruin everything just by being such hate-filled moronic ignorant name-callers. They should all have their teeth kicked in if they hadn't already rotted out. All they ever do is try to whip up hatred of people who disagree with them.

This place is about meeting people who want to see a revolution in politics and we use it to discuss politics and our agenda too bring serious change. If ya can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

One reason I keep learning the hard way the challenges of the board and I do try to learn is that there is such opportunity here, so many great folks and a lot of them DO NOT POST OR OP b/c of a few, focused, flocks of bullies that take over and "degrade the quality of discussion for everyone."

Another aspect is how easy it then becomes for real phonies that IMHO are quite blatant, to slip in and parrot talking points under the radar of the hyperventilating vultures.

Re: infrequent posters and the kind of middle way voice that DU potentially shares, I was blown away by a recent OP by FredStembottom. Check him out.
