Florida Democratic Party SILENT On Pending Evisceration Of Voting Rights In Florida
By conventional standards unbelievable... By Florida standards just par for the course as The Florida Democratic Party remains absolutely SILENT on the pending legislation in the Florida House and Senate which among other things concentrates power in the hands of the Secretary of State and harkening back to times of yore, puts in place draconian restrictions on what should be a free and open political process.

The question is HOW do any of the provisions concocted benefit the voter? Plenty of power concentrated in the hands of the few, the corrupt and the fiscally endowed.

Consequences IF this bill becomes law...

* forces more voters to vote on provisional ballots, which have a high rejection rate
* further restricts voter registration groups
* imposes more restrictions on petition-gatherers
* imposes arbitrary fines
* expands the “no-solicitation zone”, keeping needed information from voters
* further limits acceptable IDS, denying eligible voters the right to vote
* increases the purging of voter rolls, with no time to correct errors before elections
* concentrates too much power in the Secretary of State
* sweeps away local ordinances and local voter protections

 The consequences for the rest of the nation politically? Please start calculat'n cause it ain't good!

Just beautiful, and just what function and who does the FDP serve? Hmmm? Answer: Themselves! :toast: NOT! err hic :toast:

Not a peep out of the inept and broken Florida Democratic Party??????????? Yes the Thurmad runks only cause me nausea :puke:

Check out the website and press releases and see for yourself. In case anyone gets any funny ideas I PDF'ed the damn thing !

Please Take Action And Call Your Legislators Today!

Friends,

It is of the utmost importance that you make your feelings known to these misguided people who are charged with acting in the best interests of the citizens of Florida. In the event these bills become law and are somehow determined to be constitutional the character of Florida and of this nation will be diminished greatly.

If you have never called or written an elected official to express your view today is the day to get off the fence and get in the game. It is simple, takes but a minute and if nothing else you will feel better for having tried to stem this draconian set of constraints on the sacred right to vote.

Keep your calls going to legislators all over the state to VOTE NO on SB 956 and House companion bill PCB-EDCA 09-08.

This is but a first step that we must take to ensure that the right to vote is not further constrained and then and following that, we must ensure that our votes are counted fairly and in public.

Thank you. John Russell

Citizens groups from all over the state rallied on the 4th Floor Rotunda of the Capitol building, Senate

side, in Tallahassee this morning at 11:00 AM at a press conference in opposition to two voter

suppression bills being fast-tracked through the Florida legislature.

See the attached joint press release in opposition to this anti-voter legislation. More organizations are signing on moment by moment.

Keep your calls going to legislators all over the state to VOTE NO on SB 956 and House companion bill PCB-EDCA 09-08.

Be sure to call House Speaker Larry Cretul 850-488-1450 and Senate President Jeff Atwater 850-487-5100 to stop the bills from going to the floor of the House and Senate, which could happen as early as Tuesday, April 21st in the House and Wednesday, April 22nd in the Senate.

Call your Representative and Senator to VOTE NO on the bills if they get to the floor.

FIND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR HERE:
House list of representatives: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/representatives.aspx?SessionId=61
Senate list of senators: http://www.flsenate.gov/Legislators/index.cfm?Tab=legislators&CFID=129871154&CFTOKEN=38926163

Call Representative Dorothy Hukill at 850-488-6653, the presenter of the bill in the House, to withdraw her sponsorship.
Call Senator J.D. Alexander at 850-487-5044 and Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla at 850-487-5109 to withdraw their sponsorship of the Senate bill.

Then call Governor Charlie Crist at 850-488-4441 to VETO the bill, no matter how it is amended, if it gets to his desk.

Consequences IF this bill becomes law...

* forces more voters to vote on provisional ballots, which have a high rejection rate
* further restricts voter registration groups
* imposes more restrictions on petition-gatherers
* imposes arbitrary fines

These bills are bad for voters, bad for election integrity, and bad for democracy.

1. Hey, they're a little behind. Just today they called to fight against the CSX deal.
You gotta give them some time to step up to the bat on these very dangerous election rules.

:sarcasm:

That bill really is being rushed... no one is allowed to comment.

This is typical Florida Dem stuff.

2. There is no such thing as a Florida Democrat
There are only right winger who only look left because our right wing makes the Hitler look like martin Luther King by comparison. Granted, the right wings bays for their blood, but that does not stop Bill Nelson and Debbie Wasserman Schultz from helping their GOP allies out.

3. Florida is circling the drain and these assholes are worried about voter fraud.
Typical.

Meanwhile, foreclosures are rampant, huge unemployment, and ecological destruction continues.

What a clusterf*ck.

4. It Is Specifically Due To The COMPLETE Absence Of A Legit Opposition Party In Fla. That The
Situation IS As It IS. The Republican Party runs amuck in Florida on behalf of Corporate America w/ nothing but green grass ahead of it because the FlaDems are operated for the benefit of Republican Party.

5. Heh
Consider this from the state that stole the election from Al Gore:

That hardly any of the pubbies were actually elected. They have the voting machines stacked up for them. Obama carried the state but the pubbies got elected to the house and senate? Yeah, right.

The vote for Obama couldn't be stolen, but the votes for the reps could be and were. Piece of cake. The reason gov is so awful in Fla is that hardly any of them were ever elected to start with!
