Nancy Skinner - what's the skinny?
I only listen to her when I'm driving, so never hear the entire 3 hours. I've heard her make some decent points, but today was too much. She spent a lotta time bitching about Jeannine Garafalo's appearance on KO last week. It got so Jeannine phoned into the show. At that point, I turned it off.

I'm going with "Moderately Annoying" on Ms. Nancy.

Anyone?

Hartmann and I'm lovin' it. I'm glad that I didn't hear her griping about Ms. G.

Can't help you, but possibly someone will respond who can.

3. She replaced Rhandi Rhodes here
Sometimes I didn't like Randi's comments, but Randi was very professional in her delivery and able to back up her points with research. I enjoyed Randi's show because it had strong opinions and a good pace.

As for Nancy, well, so far I've been very dissapointed with her delivery, her opinions and, well just about everything. Her sentances seem to be long and rambling and I think she forgets the point by time she gets to the end. And the self-promotion, enough already.

She also has a habit of putting down democrats and bragging about how she goes on right wing shows to debate. I really don't know what to make of her, but I lost interest in trying to find out.

4. Nancy means well and has a great voice. She is very kind to all
her callers. I appreciate that. Once in a while she has a good show, but she lacks confidence. I think her heart is in the right place, but she doesn't prepare for her shows well enough. She is too soft on people who disagree with her.

She argues that you need to compromise. Agreed. But you reach compromise by presenting well informed opinions. You need to back up your ideas with facts and not just with good feelings.

I just don't think that Nancy prepares for her shows well enough. Randi used to watch a lot of C-Span and read a lot. Nancy does not seem to do that. I am reminded of an extremely well known civil rights attorney whom I heard speak recently. He was joking with the crowd about how he had argued with a well-known right-winger and how he had been so well prepared. He reminded everyone that he always prepares carefully for every argument. That's what Nancy needs to do. She needs to write and organize her ideas. Thom Hartmann is the master at this. He just cannot be beat. He writes. He reads. He knows his facts.

5. Gotta agree with you
about Thom. To me it's always a tossup which is greater - his intellect or his memory.

6. I gave Nancy's show a full 3 hours, the first day. And I was outta there....
She kept going on about her great debate skills on Fox, and I kept waiting for her to back it up, and it just never happened. She's no substitute for Randi, I'm sorry. I can't wait for Randi to be back on the air, and if she goes up against Skinner, I have a feeling Skinner will be back to doing whatever it was she was doing before this opportunity came along.

And I agree with everyone who's complained about the endless self-promotion.

Off topic: Mr. smokey and I saw Janeane last night at Comix in NY and she was hilarious!

8. Hey, Smokey!`
Good to "see" you here. Unfortunately, I had already gotten to my destination when J.G. (not sure how to spell her name) phoned in, so missed her response. She couldn't have been happy.

9. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to jump in here and correct you
Janeane Garofalo (that's how you spell her name) did not call Nancy's show today. I just relistened to it. Nancy played some clips from her appearance on Olbermann's show, so that's probably when you heard her voice, but she did not call into the show. If she had, Nancy would have spent time talking to her.

11. I heard some of it. She took some of the things Janeane Garofalo said that were true and
conflated them with a joke that Janeane had said about the frontal lobes of conservatives. I didn't like Nancy Skinner's take on it and thought she didn't understand the comments for what they were. From what I've heard from Ms. Skinner, she seems to give a greater leeway to conservatives than she does for people Ms. Garofalo. (The comments Janeane Garofalo made about bigots, and there is no doubt a big portion of the Teabaggers are bigots, were right on.)

12. Geez, I thought Garofolo was great on Keith!
What's wrong with the powers that be returning to some format like she and Sam did on AAR, or better yet, Randi back on the air?

I've joined Malloy's very reasonable internet based podcasting, which is great. We need real progressive and free thought on the airwaves.

... and Skinner ain't it.
